Reminds me of Mercuri in the way he moves. So no, he shouldn't bulk up too much, but instead get run into his legs. Bit of an issue over kicking for goal, but has a lot of class. Some absolute brilliant games, and some quiet ones. Not sure just how good this kid could be, he shows signs but has some...

I'd only want him cheap. He's young, which is what we need, and can play KP defense, which is what we need.

But there are reasons why he wasn't getting a game with Freo for the 2nd half of the year. Hasn't proven anything yet.

lets see, we have Cole, McPhee, NLM, Solomon, Welsh, McVeigh and MJ who are all small=>medium defenders AND YOU WANT TO ADD ANOTHER ONE?

Whats more, he's 27! People, we came 2nd last, focus a bit more on youth.

I'd think strongly about Batsanis (sp?). He's short and not too quick, so he'll probably fall a bit. But beautiful disposal, which is what we need. Also from what I saw on the day, seems to use the ball well and plays both outside and a little inside. If he's around at 36 (maybe even 20), I'd define...

He played most games, but I struggle to remember a single game where he beat his opponent, let alone would have made our best. Was frequently thrashed, and often gave away punishing free kicks/50's. 2/10 Simply, he's not capable anymore. I'd trade/delist him, as I don't think he's good enough, and S...

If Meesen looks any good, given Reilly looks good and Pick #14 should still be a good player, hell I would have thought that Carlton would have to think damn hard about that.

If they picked up a defender with #14, they could have helped fix their defense, midfield and ruck with the use of one pick!

Personally I'd delist Soloman.

And the idea we're not offering JJ a 2yr contract (unless he wants silly $s) is in my view abominal. To treat a guy whos served our club like that when he's still only 28 (although he will be 29 next year).

The more I hear about Leunbeurger, the more I think Carlton might go for him. If Laycock had left, I'd have been tempted to go for him at #2 ahead of Gibbs. And given how useful Hanson/Gumbleton would be to either Carlton or our line ups, I can imagine it is giving both sets of recruiters a real hea...

Also, remember that they won by 2 points, lost last year, and only beat Adelaide by 10 points. Fremantle defeated them at home. In 2001 Brisbane thrashed us. However, with players like Nicoski, Rosa, Staker, Hurn, Morton, McKinley all missing the grand final, they do have a lot of depth. Which is wh...

I actually think Lynch & Hansen are going to be very very good. so its a good thing the salary cap will force them to lose a few players! (Oh, and on Essendon 1999=>2001, we did have important players leave the side. Within two years we'd lost Wallis (our CHB), Barnes (our ruck), Bewick & Lo...

Thanks. Pretty stupid thing to do given every other club had to pass him up in the first round of the PSD for us to get him. Certainly implied everyone else had a certain view of him.

I disagree we should be emulating WCE plan. Their plan is based around no forwards, and a decent defense. Sure, Lynch & Hansen are improving, but will they be able to fit them all under the salary cap? Sydney's plan is a lot different, and is hardly based on speed at all. I prefer theirs, as it ...

Does anyone know if Heffernen was contracted for one year or two? I think the ones everyone agrees on are: Riolli, Rama (hopefully temporarily), Reynolds and Henneman. Most agree on Bolton. So that is 5. On other candidates: Cartledge: I think we have to keep him. With Laycock so injured (or traded ...

Its an interesting one. Bomber took an outfit that was nothing, and with no good picks made it into a finals contender. However, this year, when if they'd taken a step forward they would have finished final 4 or higher, they stepped back and out of the finals (or partly, others stepped forward past ...

By Hird's standards, a poor season. By anyone elses, pretty good. 7/10 Reasons: Well, injury restricted him, but it will restrict most players his age, so that isn't why I'm downgrading here. The bigger reason for my mind is how damaging his opponents can now be, and how reduced the time he spends o...

Would have to think very very carefully about this. In my view if Carlton takes Gibbs, this would be the right move. We could still get one of Hansen/Gumbleton/Thorpe/Leunbeurger, who are all considered good enough to have gone #1 in previous drafts. However, I think our midfield really really needs...
