I think the cut-off was done in the view that after that point if the player was really good enough, he should have been selected in the Crows initial squad, and played AFL.

Thomas confirmed they'd asked after Hille, as well as a number of young ruckmen. If Essendon was asked whether they'd trade Hille, I'm sure they'd have to consider it - even if the answer was NO.

So the article sounds like it was correct.

Dissapointing year. Given how well he played at the end of 2005, I don't think you can really argue he played at a higher level this year. Had a few games where he didn't get a huge amount of game time, but at least one or two of those that was justified given his lack of impact on the game. Still l...

Part of the reason there is so much money though is because there are 8 games each week. Take away sides, and you'll have less games and less TV money. I don't see a problem. If AFL suceeds long term, it will mean NSW & QLD slowly build more teams, and as that happens Victorian teams will move/f...

Don't want any of the rucks. We've got four, even if Laycock goes I'd prefer to use Hille and Cartledge than some long shot for one year.

I'd be interested in Aka and Polak, but only if we could get them really really cheap. Which I don't think will happen.

Aker can't be traded without his permission, so Brisbane can't simply trade him to a club he doesn't want. Given the rumours that his contract had a requirement that he can't be dropped except for form, then I'd say he probably has Brisbane over a barrel. Personally, I'm relieved he isn't coming her...

If you say Fletcher is reasonably near the end, then we need to replace both CHB and FB. Lee, Lucy & Bradley give us three options. History would indicate that the odds of all three coming on are damn slim, and Bradley doesn't necessarily look like a defender. So getting another top young KP pla...

As mentioned, two spoons under Pagan. Brittain got the first. Reading some of your posts Im starting to think you have no idea. Ok, "pathetic" is probably a bit harsh. But I'd argue there list isn't substantially better than when he got it. And although they missed out on some very good dr...

He's been pathetic.

Brittain without a substantially different list (although he had Silvagni) got them into the finals in 2001. Pagan has had four years and managed to get them to 11th, plus two spoons and a second last.

BULLSHIT!!! Why do people persist with this urban myth? FACT: They had 14 guys play EVERY f****** game this year including their 4 most important players....West, Grant, Smith, Johnson who have played 1200 games bwtween them. We had 3...just 3 to play the whole 22 rounds. If we had have had similar...

Brilliant CHBs DO win matches, as they cut off the supply to the forward line, while negating the key forward. But champion CHBs are rarer these days than top CHFs. Just look at the discussions for the AA team, no-one can even find top candidates for the position. I'd lean towards grabbing whoever l...

I don't think Laycock has the mobility to play CHB. Or even FB. Lee & Lucy needed to get more game time. To often we made do with Solomon/McPhee/Bolton, who are none of them long term CHBs. And yes, I agree the pressure on the opposition midfield was appalling. But realise that if Hird plays nex...

If Lloyd had played, Lucas would have played away from goal, so he wouldn't have scored as many.

Its very very concerning we didn't have anyone good enough to win a nomination.

Slattery, Nash, Cartledge, Johns, Lee plus the 2005 draftees didn't show enough to get a nomination.

The bulldogs have had pretty bad injuries too, yet their in the eight and we're not. Anyone saying we're better placed to play a GF within three years is dreaming. Personally, I hope we don't get Aka, it would be like Campo last year. You don't want older players coming in when you're going to be ou...

I'm not sure who I would prefer. I think we're crying out for a 'champion' given Fletcher/Hird/Lloyd's ages. And I think Gibbs has the better credentials there. But we're also crying out for KP defenders. And from what I hear, all the top class KP players are expected to go in the first round, where...

We have picks 2, 18, 20, 36 and 52.

If either South Australian sides want Nash, we'd be stupid to trade him. Their lists are both in better positions than ours.

The gimmes are Rama, Rioli, Henneman & Reynolds. I'd delist Bolton, don't think he'd be any trade value. I'd also delist Heffernen, there was a reason every other club overlooked him in the PSD. Makes too many mistakes, and for a player his age 'so-so' is not good enough. I'd probably try and tr...
