No, Harvey was in 2001.
Davies was our first pick in 2000, and St Kilda had picks #1 & #2 due to the priority picks, so our pick was #17.

There were 10 talls gone by the time we got to our second pick (Hansen, Gumby, Thorp, Sellar, M. Brown, N.Brown, Riewoldt, Frawley, Reid & Everitt) plus two rucks (Leuenberger & Hampson). So I've got no problem with the selectors picking up midfielders, as we effectively got the 6th & 8t...

You forgot Davies.

And I suspect Winderlich will be soon added to that list.

Hell, just realised I left MJ out!

Put MJ in the forward pocket, Monfries to the bench, McVeigh to the back pocket and Welsh out of the side.

Given their ages, its crap. Hird, Fletcher, Michael, Lloyd & Lucas will all be 29+ at the start of next season. Bolton, McPhee and NLM cannot play KP. Ignoring rookies (who are rookies for a reason) and rucks, we've got Johns, Lee, Bradley & Gumbleton as young talls. Thats pretty damn light ...

I'd expect some of the new kids to get games next year, just as Dempsey, Lonnergen & Ryder got about 15 games between them this year. I wouldn't expect that at the end of the year, on their form in 2007 that they would be considered in our best team for the year. Obviously they can prove me wron...

In my view the people nominating Fletcher to play CHB are full of it. If he could play CHB, he'd have done so previously when the opposition's gun forward was killing us there, and he was on the hack they played at FB. So I think the best team depends a lot on whether Lee can step up to play CHB. If...

Generally pretty damn happy with the draft, although I do have some concerns. We only got one tall, and in my view thats the area we've got the biggest problem looming, so that was dissapointing. That said, many many of the rated talls went early. N. Brown, Reid, Everitt, Riewoldt, Sellar, Hansen, G...

Most people rate the top 4 (Gibbs, Gumbleton, Hansen, Leuenberger) as above the others, and all as exceptional looking talents.

I don't want the ruckmen, but any of the others would be terrific.

nothing outside the rules....but I imagine a clause will be added to footy contracts from now on.... for example I had one of these in my contract when I worked for a internet company a while ago. I had to refrain from entering the same business for a year after employment. no doubt this will becom...

Not sure if Brisbane won't stop this happenning. Pretty clear that Mal has worked his way around his contract (he was contracted for 2007), and it will be interesting to see what (if anything) Brisbane can do about it.

Thats what I was worried about.

So, we've effectively got 3 tall non-ruck KP players under about 27 years old.

Johns, Lee & Bradley.

If we don't get at least 3 talls this draft, I'm going to be worried.

Will Neagle play tall?

I know Neagle was considered a smallish FF when playing for the TAC, but that he was also bottom-aged. Looking at the website, they have him listed at 189cm, which is 1cm more than Nash/Winderlich/Welsh, and 3cm shorter than Lloyd/Lucas. I've heard (very briefly), that he hasn't been being played as...

Spoke to a Foxtel consultant and they've have been apparantly advised that it is official that no AFL will be on Foxtel for 2007 or perhaps beyond. All I can say is that the AFL has now just copped a potentially bad wound in its attempt to stay ahead of soccer in this country and maybe convert some...

And Ryan Campbell is proof that talent doesn't necessarily have any impact. Are you talking about the former WA wicketkeeper or some footballer I don't know about??!! Because from what I saw of Ryan Campbell he was a decent to good state cricketer but was always about 4th in line for the Aussie job...

Selwoods an intersting one. Some people compare him to Luke Ball or Shane Crawford. And others say that he isn't pure inside or outside, but more of a really canny link man. They also question his speed and disposal. I don't think Essendon should select him, because very few have him rated as being ...

Think this is a pretty good outcome for Essendon. We get three talls who may end up playing either end. We get a good outside player, and two inside ones. Generally players that sound good. I might switch the second inside player (Moss) for another tall or another classy finisher (maybe Batsansis?),...

[quote="bombercol"]I would like to see Ryder somewhere else on the ground, maybe as a tall backman picking up the other team's 3rd or 4th forward. You may see McPhee spending a fair bit of time at CHB next year.quote] McPhee can't play CHB. And I'd be very surprised if Ryder turns out as a...

From what I've heard he's a strong chance to be available at picks #18/#20, and an outside chance to be available at #36. Sounds similiar to Dempsey, but hell, the Burgoyne's & Pearce can play together. I'd be quite happy if his name got called out on draft day, he & Batsansis are two I'd qu...
