But I will catagorically say that we should pick up the best available player regardless of position and only consider the position they play in the event that the best available is a split descision. From all reports Loony is the second best in the draft followed by Gumby and then Hanson. And if t...

This is ridiculous. Laycock is extremely quick & agile - for a ruckmen. He's nowhere near quick and agile enough to play on Brown/Riewoldt/Hall/Tredrea/Pavlich/Hansen etc. Secondly, if its such an easy position to master, how come so many clubs don't have a decent player to play in the position?

Why are we always soooooo obsessed about getting big men? (like, really really big men?) That statement from Dodoro is rubbish. He has always been of the opinion that you take a good big man over a good small man every time. Only there are a few problems with that - our midfield is in serious troub...

No not really antcl. Well not from what I've heard at least. Hansen is a CHB, who has looked pretty poor when played forward. On the other hand Gumbleton is a CHF who has shown some pretty good form at CHB as well. Also from what I've read it seems pretty much a 50/50 split over who is rated higher...

Actually, I think the reason many rate Hansen over Gumbleton is that a lot of people are split over which is better.

Personally, with Lloyd 29 and Lucas 28 (I think), I don't mind either of them. By the time they hit their straps, we'll be able to use them at either end of the ground.

Its all nice to have hope, but don't go overboard. Last year people predicted we'd make the finals or with the premiership, and we weren't close. Reasons why we won't: Our only decent tall KP player is Fletcher, and Lucas if played there. After that there is Lee, who is totally untested, and no-one...

I was under the impression that despite being bottom aged Neagle was overweight when we got him? Although that was meant to have partly been because he missed the pre-season for the TAC that year.

On Salmon, we got Wellman & Barnard for him, so I'm not sure if we didn't cut pretty even or better on that deal. On the topic, it depends on your view. If Lucas/Hird were available for the 2nd half of 99, or we hadn't had all those players out with injuries for stretches through 2001, maybe. Bu...

You can definetely offer F/S picks non-standard terms, although the deal must be at least two years long. So Brisbane offered Murphy a better deal, and Travis Cloke was signed under a better deal so he'd choose Collingwood over Richmond. I have no idea if regular draftees can be offered contracts wh...

Because in his first year Cupido showed more skill than 75% of the players currently on our list.

Which is why he is such a contentious issue.

On BF, it seems the draft is a bit light for rucks, with a couple of other candidates who seem to be valued as between picks 20 to 40.

However, next year there are meant to be one or two top ruck prospects.

Personally, I hope we can rookie Cartledge.

Out of whats in the PSD, I'd be tempted to give Cupido a 1yr deal. Certainly has more talent than anyone else on offer. But it would depend of course on how he's presented himself and his behaviour while playing in the SANFL. And his form. I know he was going great earlier, but I don't know how he f...

If you're going to use that argument, why not keep the kid Cartledge who has only just turned 22 and who is a specialist ruck?

And if you want another tall, just draft another tall youngster, he'll do as well as Henneman. After all, Henneman's best year was his 2nd one.

Sydney are recruiting a guy who fixes a hole for them, and so could result in a premiership. You're saying get a guy in an area we have a surplus in, when we're nowhere near a premiership. And most ordinary footballers don't play till they're 32. Whether we should have kept Welsh (Cole is contracted...
