I've no idea whether Dick was rated that high.

But its possible we raited Dick and Chartres (sp?) as the best two candidates for US. In which case, it wouldn't matter whether others saw them as overpriced, or if we could get Adams.

Neagle isn't that good - most clubs did not consider him good enough to be drafted and from what I read, it seems Sheeds only got him as a favor for his mother. Johns needs to go back to the VFL and learn how to play good footy consitently. Lee and Bradley should also play for Bendigo, both in the ...

Can't remember 84/85, so won't comment there. But I will comment on a few things regarding the 2000 side. It should be remembered, with a bit of luck with injuries we could have won 3 instead of one flag. In 1999 we were missing Lucas & Hird for the finals. In 2001 half our major players missed ...

Although there are definite positives to the idea, there are also some issues in my mind. The first is whether its great having 10yr olds getting their hopes up way before they should have to figure out if they're any good at the caper. The bigger issue is that if this 'school' means the F/S selecti...

Neagle (and Nash) aren't KP talls. They're best approach will be to force themselves into the midfield, or as tallish back/forward flankers. Johns in my view is our 3rd best tall forward, and unless Gumbleton is absolutely amazing in his first season, I'd expect Johns to stay there. Lee in my view w...

Most leading clubs have fully realised mid-fields Ours is all about potential In terms of player types i believe we have the following 1. In and Under Types - J Johnson, J Watson, D Peverill, C Heffernan, Nash, Monfries 2. Running Play Makers - B Stanton, M Johnson, J Hird (only occasionally now) 3...

They better be in place ASAP.

In the artilce on the Bulldogs after the draft, they said they pretty much new what players they were going to target in APRIL!

You seem to be missing the point that the investigation is far more likely to focus on whether Michael is truly a free agent than whether or not Essendon (or anyone else) tampered with the draft. How long does it take to look at a piece of paper then? That would depend on how many QCs look at it :l...

Kind of like how when Gutnick was Melbourne President, the media was always harping on about the restrictions on him becasue he was a strict Jew.

What was the fuss? Who cares if the president watches a match or not?

If you're going to discuss the midfield, restriciting it to the first five + ruck is silly.

Modern midfields represent about 8 players + the ruck.

Obviously we add Lloyd & Michael back in, which is a big plus. But I don't think the new draftees will make any significant difference (EVERY teams draftees this year are probably pretty good). Remember, we finished 15th this year and had HALF the points of the next best team, the Kangaroos. Its...

Its interesting to wonder if Davey's selection is an indication of where the club think Lovett's head is at. After all, they'll be expected to play a very similiar role, and both are hardly spring chickens so you need them to step into the side straight away. Still think Davey's pick should have bee...

Personally, I'd like the selections to come from Batsansis, Sharp, Cartledge, and maybe a tall.

The more I hear (such as the Hawthorn revelations), the more I'm sure Essendon acted fine and is in the clear. That said, Brisbane may still have legal grounds against Michael to stop him playing. It would depend on the laws surrounding verbal contracts (no idea personally) and the contract that sur...
