Re: R6 Essendon v Collingwood (ANZAC Day)

So did anyone see that coming? They dominated at stoppages for the first half - and they played to their strengths and tempo. Bellchambers is our biggest liability and it is clear that there is nothing we will do about it - I'd rather have Joey play ruck and give another tall forward a go. S...

Re: The BOOOOOING Thread

Unlike the commentariat and the officials - I actually pay good money to watch football games and my team participate.
I don't swear or abuse individuals and I don't Boo - but it has been part of our game forever - F*** Off!!!

Re: R6 Essendon v Collingwood (ANZAC Day)

Since 1995 there have been 2,089,903 people watch the EFC v CFC Anzac Day footy. 24 games! That's 87079 per game. 1995 was the biggest at 94,825. We had 5 more shots, for a drawn game. It was a lockout announced just before the game. I was in the line waiting to buy a ticket. :( 2004 57,294...

Re: Who's on modified training?

When was the last time we took an aggressive or pro-active apporach to injury and recovery?

Everytime someone falls over Justin Crow runs out the line about taking a 'conservative' approach.

Re: predictions for today

I predict Brodie Grundy will get 5-10 free kicks for no apparent reason. Sidebottom will kick 3 from the goal square from EFC spillages. Everytime we push and look like turning things around the maggots will intervene. We'll lose a couple of key players and have limited rotations. The 7' Yank will c...

Re: New rules and scoring

I suspect that as the year rolls on the teams that have mid-field bulls and grunt players will start benefitting. The reason why I'd like to see Stringer in the guts a lot more often. The 666 is only relevant at the centre bounce - we haven't been strong in this department since 1821. Our quick scor...

Re: R5 Essendon v North Melbourne

Sheil was sublime!

With him and Heppell hitting targets our game goes to another level.

If Parish - and to a lesser extent Hurley can do the same - then we will be very scary.

ANZAC Day will be a good measure.

Re: Is Essendon Better Suited to 666 than Other Teams?

It’s not so much about the reasons for our turnaround in form. More the point that relative to the rest of the competition, over the last 2 rounds, we are scoring on average 5 to 6 goals more a game. It’s an early observation admittedly but it’s a very real one. Our pace is definitely exposing team...

Re: Coleman Tribute

It’s a pity that there wasn’t the technology of the TV we gave today. Would love to watch hours of Coleman footage :( Its a bigger pity that there wasn't today's medical technology - as they mentioned in the video, he probably suffered a 4 week injury with today's medical standards I dunno so much....

Re: R5 Essendon v North Melbourne

Ambrose did a job on Hipwood so he's safe and Brown played the game of his career - so he can't be dropped. I would think if J.D. is coming in then it will be for Clarke - even though I reckon he's been a more solid contributor than T.Bell. If Myers doesn't get up then Guelfi is more likely to make ...

Re: Is Essendon Better Suited to 666 than Other Teams?

I don't have the stats, but probably a better measure of the influence of the 666 rule would be goals from centre clearances. I think I remember in Round 2 someone on TV mentioned it, and there was no difference from last year. Once the centre clearance is completed it's like 30 seconds and everyon...

Re: R4: Essendon Vs Lions

Sheil could be the next Judd if he could deliver the ball.

Parish and Heppell's disposal was terrible too.

Other than that - the team was on song. Hooker's presence was a welcome sight!

Re: R4: Essendon Vs Lions

I think Francis is being managed. Struggled with a corkie last week didn’t he? Guelfi not surprising. With Francis and SMack out, Hooker and Brown we’re always going to be picked. Thought Langford might get a run, but like it or not, I’m not shocked Myers was picked...more expected than not unfortu...

Re: R4: Essendon Vs Lions

There's a rumour doing the rounds that Francis and Guelfi were out late on the sauce - club-imposed sanction from the leadership group....

Coincidently one D.Myers is part of the leadership group.

(He was also seen handing out drink cards to the under 24's )

Re: Zac Clarke

Did a couple of good things against the Dees but most of the game looked like a duck out of water. However, overall, his height was a bonus and help to nullify Gawn. Worth another chance. Agree! I want the heat on T.Bell. For too long he has just assumed the role of No.1 Ruckman without energy, dom...
