Re: Is Essendon Better Suited to 666 than Other Teams?

It’s not so much about the reasons for our turnaround in form. More the point that relative to the rest of the competition, over the last 2 rounds, we are scoring on average 5 to 6 goals more a game. It’s an early observation admittedly but it’s a very real one. Our pace is definitely exposing team...

Re: Coleman Tribute

It’s a pity that there wasn’t the technology of the TV we gave today. Would love to watch hours of Coleman footage :( Its a bigger pity that there wasn't today's medical technology - as they mentioned in the video, he probably suffered a 4 week injury with today's medical standards I dunno so much....

Re: R5 Essendon v North Melbourne

Ambrose did a job on Hipwood so he's safe and Brown played the game of his career - so he can't be dropped. I would think if J.D. is coming in then it will be for Clarke - even though I reckon he's been a more solid contributor than T.Bell. If Myers doesn't get up then Guelfi is more likely to make ...

Re: Is Essendon Better Suited to 666 than Other Teams?

I don't have the stats, but probably a better measure of the influence of the 666 rule would be goals from centre clearances. I think I remember in Round 2 someone on TV mentioned it, and there was no difference from last year. Once the centre clearance is completed it's like 30 seconds and everyon...

Re: R4: Essendon Vs Lions

Sheil could be the next Judd if he could deliver the ball.

Parish and Heppell's disposal was terrible too.

Other than that - the team was on song. Hooker's presence was a welcome sight!

Re: R4: Essendon Vs Lions

I think Francis is being managed. Struggled with a corkie last week didn’t he? Guelfi not surprising. With Francis and SMack out, Hooker and Brown we’re always going to be picked. Thought Langford might get a run, but like it or not, I’m not shocked Myers was picked...more expected than not unfortu...

Re: R4: Essendon Vs Lions

There's a rumour doing the rounds that Francis and Guelfi were out late on the sauce - club-imposed sanction from the leadership group....

Coincidently one D.Myers is part of the leadership group.

(He was also seen handing out drink cards to the under 24's )

Re: Zac Clarke

Did a couple of good things against the Dees but most of the game looked like a duck out of water. However, overall, his height was a bonus and help to nullify Gawn. Worth another chance. Agree! I want the heat on T.Bell. For too long he has just assumed the role of No.1 Ruckman without energy, dom...

Re: R4: Essendon Vs Lions

I've said it before and i'll say it again...... We cannot be seriously competitive with Myers and Brown in the side. Woosha keeps returning to these two in the hope that their previous 10 years have been a build up to domething special. If you keep doing the same thing over and over, hoping for a di...

Re: Who's on modified training?

Back in the day a bloke did his hammy and it was 3 weeks - and ready to go.

Mutch and Smack are looking at 6-12 weeks

Thank God for modern medical science!

What’s wrong with Myers?
A chronic case of uselessness.
A good bloke though and a life-member!

Re: R4: Essendon Vs Lions

As shit-full as he was - I preferred Zac Clarke's game to T-Bell's. At least he moved around and tried to compete at throw-ins and ball ups around the ground. There were two (non) efforts from T.Bell in the last quarter at ball ups, where he walked to the contest with one arm in the air. No spring, ...

Re: Please explain

Don't panic - we've never been much good in March.......June......or September. desmondo make a relevant point though. Ignoring the hype and the self-promotion, there is a serious disconnect from where we were 7 to 9 months ago and where we are now. I don't expect the club to give any clear, honest ...

They missed two of my favourite cameos....

The skipper not making the distance from 40 metres out and the ruckman falling over 3 times in the same quarter.

Re: David Myers

He sums up Essendon's last 15+ years more succinctly than any other person or player who's passed through the club over this period. A VFL-level toiler who inexplicably hangs around on the senior list for 12 years and racks up well over 100 AFL games, and is lionised with inclusion into the club's ...

Re: David Myers

The chatter at the bar at half-time (FWIW) was that parts of the playing group are pissed off that Myers and Daniher and Fantasia are in the leadership group while Hurley and Hooker are not. You always hear this stuff when the team is struggling. Clearly, though it is more than physical - what we se...
