Re: Ashes Cricket 2017/18

I know t20 is all about runs. But seriously, Eden park is more junior cricket ground than international venue.

Re: Sheffield Shield, ODD's + Big Bash 2017/18

The Scorchers are gunna need to do very well to beat the Renegades tonight. CWhite caught on a NB last ball :) Yes, Hoggy played very well to get the Scorchers over the line  Haha! That last over of his deserves an investigation for possible match fixing. It was atrocious. (Tongue in cheek, h...

Re: A Quedtion of Law and Order

Anyone listening to Rohan Connolly on Twitter? He's going feral over the reporting of the issue. Unless he’s screaming for Magistrates to be castrated or stoned to death, I’m not interested in what he’s got to say. its amazing how the real issue gets lost. awful crimes are taking place, and some li...

Re: Ashes Cricket 2017/18

Any thoughts on this pitch so far?

From where I sit (lounge!) looks hard to score and hard to get people out. The very definition of a poor wicket. Perhaps not as bad as Melbourne - yet.

Edit: and Warner gets out!

Re: Ashes Cricket 2017/18

It may have been because it was v Zimbabwe, or perhaps because it was a day night test (or both factors) - but I believe there was an inaugural 4 day test match Saffers v Zimb? Sadly I think it finished well inside that time. But I'm with many of you, the pitch has to give bowlers a chance. Placid f...

Re: Sheffield Shield, ODD's + Big Bash 2017/18

I think the leggies benefit from batsman having to force the pace. In tests, the batsman can wait for the odd loose one to find the boundary, but also milk singles as necessary. No such luxury in T20 especially.

Re: Ashes Cricket 2017/18

Once again, legit questions about how selectors make final call. Surely they didn't pick agar ahead of holland because he's younger and better bat? The priority is who is the better spinner, surely?

Re: Ashes Cricket 2017/18

I'm not an authority by any stretch, but after playing and watching cricket for many years, the only difference between test bowlers and club bowlers is speed. Very few (pace) bowlers since McGrath deliver more than a couple of good balls in a row. I think there's a major lack of patience. One other...

Re: c*** nominations

I'm reading a book on the sandy hook gun tragedy back in 2012. Of course the perpetrator was clearly unwell, possibly a c***. But after doing some wider reading there are others who claim the whole thing was a fake - made up to try and push for tighter gun controls. What sort of c*** would do this w...

Re: Ashes Cricket 2017/18

Credit where it's due.

But England can go home. What a gutless team.

Or perhaps they've got a touch of the benevolent bombers? Turning mediocre players into permant fixtures?

Re: Ashes Cricket 2017/18

I don't think anyone thinks Paine is shit. The questions are about how selectors come to their decisions. There isn't a lot between any of the top keepers, and batting wise Nevill's record is probably better than other contenders. Anyway, Paine's kept ok from what I've seen, even allowing for the mi...

Lol that wasn't regulation at all.

And throwing up a video of a stumping that was amazing doesn't downgrade the one today.
He had a lot of help from Moeen. What a slack bit of batting.
