Re: R6 Essendon v Collingwood (ANZAC Day)

Huh....why all the love for Collingwood. I think we are every chance if keep to our recent form. They have a 2 man forward line and a non existent back line. Yeah good luck to them. Merrett, Shiel, Heppell, McGrath, Smith, Zaharakis, Parish, Myers can hold their own against the Pies mids......provid...

Re: R5 Votes v North Melbourne

5 Shiel 4 Merrett 3 Heppell 2 Brown 1 Fantasia A few bad turnovers, but overall a great team effort. Loved the run out of the back half, please don’t go back to the slow chipping back and forth shit from rounds 1 & 2... Also, Shiel’s disposals much improved... YES!! We are going to see great things...

Re: Clanger Hangar 2019

Clangers in general have little bearing on results. They can have a lot of bearing on results. Clangers cause turnovers and a lot result in scores against. It just so happens that the opposition also produces clangers and the same applies to them. It comes down to how good you can capitalise on tho...

Where to Now for Langford and Laverde??

These two boys seem unable to secure their place in our best 22. That would not have been helped today with four youngsters showing a lot (Redman, Ridley, Ham & Guelfi). I know Laverde has had injury problems but that in its own is a concern These lads are into their 5th season in the AFL system and...

Re: R5 Essendon v North Melbourne

Shiel, Merrett and Heppell had excellent games with 30+ touches Hurley and Hooker great... Ham looked lively, but he also looked like a jockey out there today. Hard to believe he turns 20 this week. 62 Clangers a tad high for a game where we dominated. Won't get away with that next week. Well done ...

Re: Coleman Tribute

I know the club ran some wanky fan competition to name their training facility in Tullamarine Why the hell did they not go with something like the Coleman Centre We generally honour our past players pretty well but then, there are times when we miss opportunities. Richards, Coleman, Hutchison, Thur...

Re: R5 Votes v North Melbourne

Apologies - write this over in the Game Thread but think it applies here 1) Daniher playing 90% of game time and kicking a couple - didnt do much else but great to see him get through unscathed 2) 7, 9 & 21 were imperious and will have to back that up next week if we are to have any chance of beatin...

Great win against a shite team - they looked like we did against GWS Nevertheless Many, many good signs 1) Daniher playing 90% of game time and kicking a couple - didnt do much else but great to see him get through unscathed 2) 7, 9 & 21 were imperious and will have to back that up next week if we a...

Re: R5 Essendon v North Melbourne

Not sure what the issue with Smith is. He is clearly not at his best this season - he's been ok. I wonder if he is carrying some injury...maybe keeping him for ANZAC? Watched Woosha's selection interview - Smith being managed for his chronic knee issue. He talked about Brayden Ham being included as...

Re: Coleman Tribute

It’s a pity that there wasn’t the technology of the TV we gave today. Would love to watch hours of Coleman footage :( Its a bigger pity that there wasn't today's medical technology - as they mentioned in the video, he probably suffered a 4 week injury with today's medical standards I dunno so much....

Re: Is Essendon Better Suited to 666 than Other Teams?

Some interesting view and I agree with it being too early to draw any conclusions.

However it does seem in general that the 666 rule has had a negative impact on scoring in general.

Re: Coleman Tribute

Thanks for that, Windy. I was at the ground as a 7 year old the day that Coleman received that fateful injury. I had been taken into the rooms prior to the game by my Grandfather who was an ex club secretary of the Dons. I was given a number 10 gurnsey by the great man and he signed it for me. If t...

Re: Is Essendon Better Suited to 666 than Other Teams?

It’s not so much about the reasons for our turnaround in form. More the point that relative to the rest of the competition, over the last 2 rounds, we are scoring on average 5 to 6 goals more a game. It’s an early observation admittedly but it’s a very real one. Our pace is definitely exposing team...

Re: R5 Essendon v North Melbourne

After 13 marks in defence, Hooker will be staying put. The only chance for Francis is if Ridley or Redman are dropped....which to be honest would be tough love for both those boys, especially Ridley who copped being the sacrificial lamb early in the season. I suspect it will be Redman out, Francis i...

Is Essendon Better Suited to 666 than Other Teams?

Putting aside the first two rounds, where the new 666 rule was being road tested by all teams and our Club's form was terrible, there seems to be an early sign that the Bomber's crash and dash off half back is perfectly suited to the new rule. Now I will have to humbly give credit to Worsfold if in ...
