Re: R18 Essendon v Geelong

Yes we definitely need a 100kg defender who can play on the big boys. I think this was who Zach Reid was meant to be. He's listed at 90kg 202cm but can't get his body right.Kaine Baldwin is 97kg and 197cm. I don't think this lad has a real good go at it. I want to know what went wrong with the fiel...

Re: R18 Essendon v Geelong

Inexcusable performance which has the fan base fondly reminiscing about the Rutten years. How could they let that happen. So, ok, Geelong clearly has a list that exploits our weak points to perfection. Monster Forward, high pressure, big bodied mids, standout defenders. Dang, that’s the whole kit an...

Re: Kyle Languid

Was a disappointing footnote in an otherwise great team effort. Slow, cumbersome and poor skills. Starting to wonder what he brings to the table. With Begley looking a solid half forward option, Kyle will need to show a little more if hes to keep his place. Nearly six years on I am delighted to ann...

Re: Welcome to Essendon, Elijah Tsatas

Sort out his kicking and he'll be a ripper.

We have some real depth in the midfield now

Merrett
Shiel
Parish
Setterfield
Caldwell
Hobbs
Perkins
Tsatas

Plus guys like Stringer, Langford, Martin and Durham who can pinch hit at centre bounces if necessary

Re: 2022 AFL Draft

Please, can we just draft the kid who all the pundits reckon will be the best at our pick than letting 20 year perennial draft fluffer Adrian Dodoro anywhere near the selection.

Re: The Irishman

It’s a rarity but ex listed players should have to go through the draft. To be able to pick the club of your choice is insane. McKenna, if listed in the National draft would likely be taken with a second round pick. Brisbane get him for nothing.

How is that fair?

Re: R5 Essendon v Fremantle

Hobbs makes the cut.

4th debut for the Dons this year.

I think we had 5 players debut last year ( not including guys who had debuted at other clubs like Caldwell and Wright)

So that’s 9 first gamers in the last 28 games.

So please folks, we have to be patient

Re: R4 Essendon V Adelaide

People underrating Adelaide. They've shocked a few, will end up in the 8 - 14 range similar to us. I agree, I thought they were very good today and had a clear game plan. Again, we were out coached. But overall they are an average team at above the same level we are at. I don’t think they will both...

Re: R4 Essendon V Adelaide

The umpiring was a stunning example of what can happen when the umps drink too much strong coffee before a game. Those whistles were going off so regularly it was headache inducing.

Re: R4 Essendon V Adelaide

A win that felt more like a loss to be honest. How easy was it for a bang average Adelaide side playing away to go coast to coast. They ran the ball out of our F50 and simply sliced us up through the midfield getting the ball into a wide open forward line way too easy. Our defensive efforts were hor...

Re: The Davey Twins

Heard a bit from the training reports on Blitz, all positive. They don’t become eligible for drafting until end of this season I believe. The two up for Supplementary draft slots this year are Tex Wanganeen and Ronald Fejo with many claiming Fejo is a possible star in the making. Not sure how this a...

Re: Essendon Rumour Mill

Is AMT goneski? Haven't heard anything since pre-Christmas, but he was training at the club then. But he has a LOT of work ahead of him to be fit and ready for Round 1. If he's not 100% committed, he just might be goneski (in the longer term). Hasn’t he suffered a calf injury - 6 to 8 weeks on modi...

Re: 2021 AFL Draft Pick #13

The interesting thing about the above discussions is that… No-one has mentioned Dylan Shiel. Just shows you how insignificant he actually is. Putting aside how much he cost, the fact is, if Dylan Shiel is your 5th or 6th most important midfielder, you’re in a pretty good place. I am hoping Dyl will...
