Re: The Politics Thread.

I am an original Bombertalker. I was Bombertalking when this site was a page on the EFC web site way back in the old days. So I aint going anywhere. Labor isnt perfect but the crap Abbott comes out with simply makes my blood boil. If I ever heard some reasoned debate from the Liberals it might help...

Some people are just never satisfied...you asked for the list, you got the list, and now you want to get rid of the list

Re: The Politics Thread.

Not to point out anything but old Julia and her cronies don't mind hurling the abuse either. As seen in yesterdays session. Just out of interest. How many times in the past 112 years has the speaker been taken to court over sexual harassment charges? What's happened to Hockey? I miss his bumbling a...

Re: Mike Sheahan's Top 50 for 2012

I've seen the list via a thread over on Blitz. Jobe was number 4 and the only Essendon player 50. Nathan Jones 49. Harry Taylor 48. Eddie Betts 47.Lewis Jetta 46. Ryan Griffin 45. Travis Cloke 44. Jack Riewoldt 43. Corey Enright 42. Ivan Maric 41. Daniel Wells 40. Rhy Shaw 39. Joel Patfull 38. Shann...

Re: Monfries off to Port Adelaide

Very interesting set of figures there BD. As has already been said, too much is made of high draft picks when what is really needed is a team of astute talent spotters and a recruitment manager who will listen to them. Also, a lot needs to be said about the concept of drafting/trading for specific p...

Can't see how Gumby is in next year's best 22 when we're not even sure if he will be at the club.

If the club sees him as best 22, why are they only offering a one year deal?

I think we got Alex Browne with pick 48 in the 2010 draft.

Re: NRL Grand Final Storm V Doggies

Ok so my argument is that SoO stunts growth as the pinnacle of rugby league is to play for either NSW or Qld. Something that a kid from Vic, Sa, WA etc won't be growing up dreaming of. No SoO means a kid will grow up dreaming of winning a premiership which IS the pinnacle of AFL. Not so in NRL. Whe...

I think Dyson is probably safe seeing as he is currently in Darwin on a club organised promotional trip.

Doesn't make any sense to send someone that you're planning on delisting.

Re: Scarlett and Geelong.

I would like to hear more about that from long term Geelong people...not someone who has only been there for a few years. You would presume that Polly Farmer would be at the top, then there's the two Ablett's and Billy Goggin to name a few other contenders...and I'm sure there's more that don't imme...

Re: NRL Grand Final Storm V Doggies

Well yes ok comparing it to AFL fair point. But the problem for NRL is the pinnacle of the sport is playing in the SoO. You can play for Australia but those are usually one side smackings unless we have an off day. SoO is where its at. Which is the main reason the sport is still stuck in 2 states ....

Re: No love?

Yeah, i feel devastated for the job uncertainty felt by guys who've borderline extorted AFL wages out of the club for years on end in return for SFA. Oh, the humanity. This is the beauty of FA. You tell blokes like Slattery, Monfries, Reimers etc. exactly what they're worth, and if they don't like ...

Re: Essendon salary cap pressure

All this talk about 92.5% is crap...only the financially challenged clubs worry about that figure. I would be surprised if we aren't right on or very close to 100% each year. Players come and go and there would be constant updating of the cap position by the list managers to ensure that we don't go ...

fwiw, I think once you start seeing hookers you probably should be required to start attending some sort of anonymous group(ie your attendence is not disclosed to anyone, including the courts) which discusses attitude/ability to relate to women. Surely it can be done without impacting civil liberti...

Re: Nail on head again.

Yes, it was a good article and I was nodding my head in agreement the more I read. The only problem is that the AFL have proven time and again that they do not give the slightest regard to the feelings of the supporters in the way that they manage the game. These days, if TV wants something, TV gets...

the only games worth watching all year is the State of Origin #-o #-o well unless the Broncos or NQ in the GF would be worth it.... otherwise there is AFL on the other channel every weekend Well yes ok comparing it to AFL fair point. Stanton? Just goes to show how far he dropped off the pace as the season went on. He is certainly one guy who will be delighted with BJ coming into the squad as it will free him up to play that running link role. By the way, does someone here tally up the weekly Bombertalk votes ? yeah, Robbie trad...

Re: NRL Grand Final Storm V Doggies

Not sure how you could think that was a great game of league... Was a horrible advert for the game and probably the worst game of the finals THIS. Well I'm not a big follower of the game but I certainly thought it was a cracking game. Lot's of pressure piled on throughout the game by both sides and...

I've been watching The Wire on DVD recently....if you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it. Plenty of people have recommended it. Will try to have a look soon. Is it like The Shield? Never really watched much of The Shield but people I know who have watched both say The Wire is better. I woul...
