He's done well. Should've won a Caulfield Cup (Damien Oliver, the overrated hack, didn't follow the one simple instruction he was given in that race), and has placed 3 times in a Cox Plate including a win, and he's done all that without being really capable of sprinting. Prior to doing his second suspensory ligament, he had a finish as strong as El Segundo's is now on his best day.

Nothing to do with Boss, his mount gave donuts (although i did enjoy watching that cocky arsehole bring up the tail of the field). Another Sydneysider falls by the wayside.

"He's got square wheels, won't go and he isn't very bright" - D. Gauci RE Fields of Omagh circa 1999, after a barrier trial.

How are those grapes, Darren? A touch sour, i dare say??? Beaten on your merits son.

It was a sweet finish, and a beautiful way for the old boy to end up a magnificent career.

He's a bit of a James Hird of the ponies, our FOO.

For a horse that isn't really that good he has done exceptional.

Just gives itself every chance to win and gee doesn't it love the Valley.

I have two connections to the horse's owners and while my wallet wanted others to win, it was great and fitting to see the old boy win in it's last race.

Pompeii Ruler kept my money alive to the death......was very excited at 15-1 until the last gasp.

Couldn't fault the winner, FOO excellent race and an excellent way to retire.
