Looks like MacGill is back to full fitness and mobility with 4-79. And looks as though cabbage Katich is a certainty to be selected in the absence of Clarke. Seriously, that bloke is blessed.

Jesus Benny...he dominated the Pura Cup last season and therefore deserves another chance imo (and I don't really like him that much)

Of course he deserved selection, but he always gets the breaks - ALWAYS. It just so happens Clarke is unavailable at the right time. How many players in the past have missed out simply because there is no room in the team? Along comes Katich once again and BANG - there's a spot.

Katich made 97, Symonds 86 and Haddin 60. Haddin's had a good match with 5 dismissals as well.

Mr Katich, ALL IS FORGIVEN! f*** me, 97 & 37* plus 2-51 & 4-15!!! Brad Hogg must be hanging his head in shame. He couldn't buy a wicket bowling his highly competent left arm chinaman's. Along comes a part time, only if I feel like it, chinaman bowler in Katich, and KICKS ARSE!

FOX.

If it was shown on FTA, we would get the replays in October.

The VB X1 missed out on a win due to weather. Bit of bad luck.

I read that Hayden is crook and in doubt for a start on Friday.

FTA channels suck. A whole series had to be changed because channel 9 wouldn't show it because it clashed with the Olympics. (Vs Bangladesh here in August).

The laws favour them to get first rights on all sports and then refuse to show most of it.

Will never forget one Sunday afternoon in Canberra where Channel 7 showed Get Smart re runs and a doco on giant ant hills in Laos instead of a live WCE game.

Hodge might get another run with Hayden in doubt!

Or will they open with Katich and bring Noffke into the side?

Hope not. I know he's good, but is having two all-rounders and four bowlers making the team a bit light in the batting department? Also, having two players coming in, I think it would be better to go with experience.
Having said that, the Windies are rubbish anyway, so we could roll out the Vics 2nd XI and they'd probably still win.

I think Symonds should be regarded as a batsmen and a bits & pieces bowler rather than allrounder. Although, he so brilliant in the field that the term "allrounder" can still apply.

Apparently, the word is that Katich will open the innings in place of Hayden and Hodge will get a chance in the middle order.

I know we'll still win (easily), but this would be the worst (or maybe the least experienced) Australian test team to take the field for nearly a couple of decades I reckon.

What do people think?

Jaques
Katich
Ponting
Hussey
Hodge
Symonds
Haddin
Lee
Johnson
Clark
MacGill

It's fortunate that we're playing the West Indies at the moment as I reckon NZ could probably beat us with that line up. Ponting is in horrible form, and Jaques, Hodge, Haddin & Johnson are relatively "new kids on the block" while Katich is returning after an extended stint in the wilderness. Still it still is a very talented and capable team.

Although it's never nice to get in due to an injury or in Clarke's case a death in the family, Hodge deserves his chance.

Go Hodgey.
