Hogg out Macgill in. He would want to snag a few wickets in the first couple of games, otherwise Hogg will come straight in.

Rossoneri wrote:For alot of those test matches, MacGill has only played on spinning wickets that has required two spinners. Funny moment was when they dropped Warne for MacGill in 1999 in the WI. Cant quite recall his figures but lara went to town on him, scored 100 off about 70 balls.

But it will interesting to see how MacGill goes with Lee at the other end.
MacGill bowled pretty well actually. He took 2-52 and 3-80 at Antigua which is a F****** small ground. Lara had a tendency to smash Warne to all parts too don't forget....

But I cannot believe the selectors have gone with MacGill ahead of Hogg. Form obviously means jack shit.

He still would have had a great number without McGrath at the other end, and vice versa.
Totally missed the point there Ross but thanks for dropping in anyway
Of course I missed the point. If anybody disagrees with you, they must have missed the point.

Johnson confirmed in the 11 and Hilfenhaus to be 12th man.

And Grassy...Hogg has flown home and will play for the Warriors

Wish they would give him more of a go. Genuine swing bowler.

Wouldnt it be better to get him to play for Tasmania in their Pura Cup match this week (assume they have one) rather than sit in the dressing room? He has had very little bowling this year as he was often the 12th man in the T20 WC and over in India also.

The question has to be asked......why TF did they pick him in the squad when Tait pulled out? Surely Hilfenhaus was never going to leap frog Johnson based on the fact that Hilfenhaus missed out on the original squad of 13.

Maybe for insurance in case something happened to Johnson in the lead up (just like something happened to Tait)

It's CA policy now to release the 12th man from the squad and allow them to fly off wherever to play state cricket.

Hilf will be lining up for Tassie this week against the Vics, and if the Aussies need a substitute fielder, they will have a couple of grade cricketers hangingn around the sheds they can send out.

But why ahead of Noffke?

Noffke has had a brilliant start to the season, but I guess he needs to string together a number of consistent performances throughout this season to break in. But if they are serious about allrounders, then he obviously in the mix seeing hack Watson is injured again, McDonald isn't able to bowl at the moment, Voges has gone off the boil and Symonds struggles with the ball.

Bewdy Swood. The WACA mightn't take much spin, but he'll be an important key all the same.

WA MUST WIN THIS ONE OUTRIGHT.Then consolidate our position in the One Dayers.

Takes Tony Greig all of 13 balls to make his first laughable misidentification of the summer - Hayden swings and misses, and Greig follows up with: "that's the way Jaques likes to play".

Brilliant, Greigy. They do look the same .

Fernando has been spoken to twice by the umpire with regard to running onto the danger area of the pitch. Don't know if he's been formally warned yet.
