Looks like we're hosting another home final.

2 out of 3 so far, it would be great to get the 3rd as well.

Typically Victorian bowling display, everyone chipping in and getting the job done.

Hard to lose from here, 7/134 and as Ross said effectively 8/134.

Easy win in the end, but hoime finals count for little in the OD format. Its the Pura cup where we need the home final.

And with Marsh out for a while, Tasmania will be in trouble.

Aussies 2/83.

Jacques failed again and Hayden got another start and fell.

Fair to say Jacques will not be a late call up for the WC.

Hadden did okay, made 49 with the bat. Could always be used as just purely a batsmen in the world cup, and still have Gilly keep.
Hussey and Hodge in now, 3/153 after 30 overs.

Ok so who do we drop for White and Hodge?

I'm thinking maybe Maxi Klinger and a bowler, maybe a Lindsay or a Pattinson.

Harwood, Lewis, Crosswaithe, Hussey, McDonald, Hodge and White are all automatic selections in my opinion.

Quiney has been in great form of late and probably deserves a game.

That leaves 3 spots for: Moss, Blizzard, Pattinson, Lindsay, Klinger

I suppose it will depend on the pitch and what not but still it's going to be very interesting.

Hodgey is going to the WC.

Aussies made 336. Hodgey and White made 84 of 45 balls
Hodgey stranded on 97* (86 balls)
White 42* (19)

Scored 111 from the final ten overs.

Say what you want about White, but what he loses in bowling compared to Watson (not much as the both bowl pies) he more than makes up in batting.

what was the end scores?

We ended up 4/337.
I agree with you Rosso. Watson is no where near the kind of batsmen that White is. Everyone is saying he (watson) is a big hitter down the order, but White absolutely shits on him when he plays that position. White smashed the crap out of that ball today, and to get overlooked for the World Cup by Watson is an absolute disgrace.

The Kiwis could very well chase this down. 337 seemed imposing, but the ground is an absolute thimble; 337 probably equates to about 270 on most Australian grounds. We've got a 2nd string bowling line-up and currently the Kiwis are 2/111 after 19 overs. Look out.

We were 3/122 off 25 overs.
They're 3/153 off 26 overs.
They got to 150 in 22 fewer balls.

Can they emulate Hodge and White?

4 4 4 1 1 2-Whites current over

he's giving them back the runs he made.

RR req is close to 8. The bowling needs to tighten up now, or take a wicket.

Taylor about to score 100

Fair to say now that things are looking shaky for the WC. Bowling looks benign and our batting is up and down. I'm still backing us in for the WC but things don't look anywhere near as rosy as they were a fortnight ago. Time to extract the digits from thy rectums, gentleman.

Bowling is the problem, aussies cannot seem to take a wicket from the 12th over onwards in each of their last half a dozen matches. worrying times imo.

This is a disaster for us...

Our bowling has been on a serious decline ever since Dizzy lost form. Also McGrath getting old has been a major problem we really miss his accuracy and penetration that we had before he had tiume off to take care of Jane last time.

This is evidenced by today and the BIG losses we have had recently to the Saffas and NZ.

We need Symonds back... We need either for Lee to get fit and better or another serious strike bowling option and we need a real spinner not just a bunch of make do options that can share 10 quick over to make up the fifth bowler.

I really dont think that we are that far off getting back to where we belong but geez today looked aweful especially when we are really not too far off what our WC bowling line up looks to be!!!

We're missing Symonds bowling his tight ten overs in the middle of the innings.

What's dangerous is that we're not taking wickets at all.

Hodge is available for the final on Sunday, hopefully Victoria's second finals win in consecutive weeks!

Queensland will have Hayden, Johnson and Watson back for the final.

Apparently we are going to lose our No.1 position in ODI's to South Africa because we have lost this series. We lost by 10 wickets for the first time eh? Well I reckon losing a game after making 434 is far bloody worse, and not far behind that, losing after making 336....

Does anyone in the team know how to bowl a slower ball? Or do they enjoy bowling at the same monotonous pace in the same monotonous spot so that batsmen can have a party?
