Tendulkar will be turning 40 next year. It's been 20 months (and 24 innings) since his last test century. He is averaging just 36 in this time. Time to hang up the boots sonny.

But there's probably a series coming up against Bangladesh soon.
Make that 27 innings and an average of 34.65. He has only scored 6 half centuries in the last 27 innings. His overall average has dropped from somehere near 58 down to 54.

Time to call stumps.

Ian Chappell said it was always better for someone to ask you "why did you reitre?" instead of "why didn't you retire?" It would mean you left the game when you were still at or near your best rather than withering away....
Sachin without a doubt is the most overrated cricket player to pull on the pads.

Not denying he's been a gun but that doesn't mean he cant be overrated.
In my own personal opinion about who the best modern day batsman was, I believe Brian Lara. He could devastate and demoralise bowling attacks with ease and whenever he pleased.

Tendulkar is simply damaging his own record by trying to break all records imaginable. Purely selfish in my book. And they reckon Lara was selfish for batting on to make 400 not out in a test

Not a best Test debut....

Kyle Abbott v Pakistan: 11.4 overs, 7 for 29

NZ going well against the Poms.

England 167 all out

NZ 6/326 - Rutherford 171 on debut. He is the son of former NZ captain Ken Rutherford.

Maybe there is hope for us in the Ashes.

Awesome effort by Hamish Rutherford! =D>

I remember his old man's debut and inglorious beginning;

0, 0, 4, 0, 2, 1, 5, 65, 0, 0

Not a bad introduction to test cricket for a top order batsman! #-o

He averaged 11.2 for his first 22 test innings (before he scored his first ton). Not that's perseverance!

he only averaged 27 in his career. Pretty crook especially when he actually captained at one point.

FMD!!!!

A rain shortened ODI between NZ and West Undies produced this.....

NZ 4/283 off 21 overs (C. Anderson 131*, J. Ryder 104, J. Holder 2-48) defeated WI 5/124 off 21 overs (D. Bravo 56*, M. McLenaghan 2-7)

Jesse Ryder smacked 104 off 51 deliveries with 12 fours and 5 sixes. If you think that was good, Corey Anderson hit 131 off 47 balls with 6 fours and 14 sixes! His hundred coming off 36 balls - fastest in ODI history.

The boundaries were about five metres from the pitch.

Kumar Sangakkara is currently 277 not out v Bangers & Mash. He has just clicked over 11000 test runs (the quickest to ever get there). Has now hit 9 double centuries, and of the 34 test centuries he has hit, 17 of them have been scores over 150 or more. He is averaging just a bees dick under 58. Unbelievable...

One of my favourite cricketers of all time. Class act. Admittedly an innings against 'Deshies might be considered easy money - but hey, 300+? f*** me, my highest score ever was 83, so I reckon its pretty darned impressive.

Good to see New Zealand giving India a bit of stick! They won the 1st Test by 40 runs with Brendon McCullum scoring 224.

After trailing by almost 250 runs in the 1st innings of the 2nd Test, they now lead by 325 runs with one day to go. Brendon McCullum hammering them again with 281 not out =D>

Will be interesting to see if he declares overnight to try and give his bowlers a full day to bowl India out (325 run lead should be enough), or if he bats on to get a triple century. Probably should give himself half an hour to stretch the lead beyond all possibility and get a triple hundred in the process.

Didn't they play Tests in "winter" in Cairns and Darwin 10 or 12 years ago?
