RIP Tangles

Post by Sismis »

RIP to one of the truly great characters. I used to serve him coffee when I worked at Donut King in Malvern while at uni. He was just a naturally funny guy, hugely charismatic and extremely generous with his time.

I shared his nickname as a youngster due to my unco highly bowling action!

"Mr Walker's playing havoc with the bats"

He's the 3rd legend of that iconic C'mon Aussie song to depart. I hated cricket as a very young kid - until World Series Cricket captured my imagination. The song was awesome. So was the cricket and the characters like Tangles. His weird action was always a target of mimicry in backyard cricket - and even competitive cricket when the game was "over".

Then he told us not to forget the Aerogard and "avagoodweekend". His commentary, story telling, book writing were great. And who could ever forget the 12th Man taking the piss with "It's called BOWLING Max you ****head"

RIP Big Man
