Peter Handscomb and Matt Renshaw

Post by BenDoolan »

Peter Handscomb
Deserves to be singled out for special applause. What an awesome start to a test career. No doubt there will be troughs, but this is a marvellous effort;

* 4 straight tests where he has at least made a half century - equals a records that has lasted 96 years in Australia
* Has not been dismissed under 50 in his six test innings
* Has taken some damn good catches too

Matt Renshaw
Only 20 years of age? Unbelievable. Another who will go through some tough times (they all do), but his start to his career has been amazing. Shows a lot of maturity and sensibility. Can catch too! Great knock in this test - it's a pity he didn't get to a double ton.

Well played young punks =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Fully agree on both,Ben.

Hope Cartright works out.Keeps both the Marsh's out, which keeps the locals here howling, which suits me fine,eh Tony?!

Hope Wadey works out. They're baying for his blood over here.

Cartwright looked impressive with the bat. Looked a bit pained at silly mid off though :-& He's a good prospect.

Our test fortunes have improved ever since the 3 Marsh's disappeared...

Reckon Mitch still has a future,Sean might have a last chance saloon tour of India, but I am sorry Rodney didn't work out as Chairman of Selectors.Always think he was our Best ever Wicket Keeper, but concede Gilly would edge him in All Time Aussie best teams.

What's your view on our Current batch of Wicket Keepers?

We have keepers? Current batch are average at best for test cricket as keepers.
Wade will not go to India. Was brought in for his "explosive" batting and has done f*** all...
Neville will come back in.

P.S. I don't expect to see the next Gilly as like the players of his day, we will be very lucky to see another keeper batsman like him in Australian colours for a while...

Handscomb
Make that 7 innings without being dismissed under 50. Has finished the test summer with 399 runs @ 99.75

Handscombe is excellent, but we (Vics) already knew that.

Renshaw was a speculative selection like Maddinson, but a much better one. Who knew that being patient was a good thing in Test cricket.
Aaron Francis is the Messiah.
