Euro 2008

Post by merty92 »

June 7-29

Group A
Czech Republic
Portugal
Switzerland
Turkey

Group B
Austria
Croatia
Germany
Poland

Group C
France
Italy
Netherlands
Romania

Group D
Greece
Russia
Spain
Sweden

Just about any team can win it,
Germany were in great form at the end of the qualifying,
Cristiano Ronaldo is going good as for Man U and will probably do the same for Portugal,
Greece is now probably better then they were in 2004,
France and Italy are France and Italy
Croatia are probably the dark horses, so is Romania

Cant see any other team winning it

I'll get on the Swedish bandwagon with Henrik Larrson in the squad.

Might take some of the 8.8 on Portugal me thinks...

Only problem is that apparently Ronaldo doesnt score on big occasions

Turkey barely qualified bro, if Hamit Altintop isn't absolutely 100% ready, we are screwed. Emre is pretty good, and so is Arda and M.Aurelio but apart from that we are average.

Merty I think you'll find you contradicted yourself and thus KaaN10's response, followed by BD's comment which was a sarcastic comment because people have claimed Ronaldo can't play well on the big stage despite having a great game against chelsea on thursday morning (despite the missed penalty). I'm hoping the Greeks get up again (being Greek), however I don't fancy us, and would like to see Portugal get up if we can't.

France, Italy, and the Netherlands in the same group!

For me the winner will come from one of these 3.

What is it with France and Italy always running into eachother!

The World Cup final, the Euro qualifiers and now the finals.

I wouldn't mind the Greeks doing well either, they did pretty good in qualifying (think they only lost one match if my memory is right). sorry if i offended anybody because I dont really think before I post

The Dutch supposedly carved up Italy overnight 3-0. Although reports that van Nistlerooys goal (the first of the game) should have been disallowed for a clear offside with an injured Italian player deemed to have been playing him onside. Anybody watch the game? Too late for me.

Great start Netherlands, good to see my background team win convincingly against the Italians. I'm not sure if there are any other dutchies on here but I'll happily be the no.1 bandwaggon member for Euro 2008. I've only just begun watching it with my old man so besides the results I don't have anything to add here. Nevertheless, will be watching this tournament with interest.

It was a clear off-side. I feel very deeply for the Italians. How dare those upholders of all thats right and just in soccer get done by such a poor decision....
Essendon Football Club- We arent arrogant, just deluded.

Turkey beat Switzlerand 2-1(A goal in injury time 91st minute) stunning strike by Arda Turan. We need to beat Czech Republic to quality for the elimination phase. A draw will take it to extra time.

Turkey beat Switzlernad by scoring 90th min
Turkey beat Czech Republic after being down 2-0 in the 75th min and winning 3-2
Turkey beat Croatia after conceding 119th min and scoring 120th min then winning the penalty shootout

Most entertaining team so far, hope we can beat Germany.
