Trade Dealings with Port

For all things non Essendon related, tell us how much you hate the Blues, Pies, etc.

I'd keep the pick personally. As has been said we will get either Hansen or Gibbs, and either will have a big future with the club

But his father seems to be pulling his strings and both the Crows and him seem to be saying he will return.

In such a good draft, are we not better off without these problems?
My sentiments exactly. Plus our need for a CHB is more critical at the moment.

If:

We trade pick #2 for Steve Salopek and pick #5.
We pick up Mitch Thorpe or Jack Reiwoldt with pick #5.
We retain picks #18 and #20.

Then:

We still have a top quality KPP prospect from this draft.
We have a 21 year old former #6 pick who hit his straps this year (injury prevented him from having an impact in his first few seasons) and would fit nicely into our midfield.
We still have picks #18 and #20 plus the #2 PSD pick.

I can't see why we wouldn't go for it.

Would have to think very very carefully about this.

In my view if Carlton takes Gibbs, this would be the right move. We could still get one of Hansen/Gumbleton/Thorpe/Leunbeurger, who are all considered good enough to have gone #1 in previous drafts.

However, I think our midfield really really needs a gun in there, so if Carlton is going to go tall, I'd feel less kindly about this trade.

I suppose it depends on what you think Salopek will become. I haven't seen much of him, so I'm not sure.

Wasnt Port looking to trade Salopek for Bullen last year?

I think we should keep the picks - lets get the best available.

The first post mentions that Port are looking for " picks 1 or 2" so they can get Gibbs.
How would pick 2 guarantee that?
Surely they must be bartering with Carlton to try and ensure this, not us.
