Laycock signs for two years!!
Laycock signs new two-year deal
Tuesday, 3 October 2006
Emerging ruckman Jason Laycock has today signed a new two-year deal with the Bombers. A number of opposition clubs had shown interest in securing the services of the 21-year-old but the deal was done late this afternoon.
Laycock struggled with injury for much of this season. Knee, ankle and shoulder injuries all kept him sidelined for prolonged periods. Essendon fans saw a glimpse of what the 200cm ruckman is capable of on Anzac Day 2005 and will be hopeful he can keep out of the medical room in the coming seasons and realise his full potential.
In other news, 204cm rookie Lachlan McKinnon will spend a second year on the Bomber's rookie list. McKinnon was sidelined this season with a serious shoulder injury but has now fully recovered.
Essendon officials are still in negotiations with three senior players Jason Johnson, Dean Solomon and Adam McPhee who remain out of contract.

Incorrect, the source said there was troubles in negotiations. Laycock was asking for more then the club was prepared to pay and was looking at his options, obviously those issues got sorted out between club and player.nomolos wrote:Where's the reliable source who said he wasnt happy and was going to leave??????????????????
one turns 22 in November, one is 29 in Jan. One has at least 8 years ahead of them and every club in the AFL sniffing around him, one will be 30 by the start of the 08 season.
One shows promise and talant to improve, one is starting to decline.
It dosen't stink, its just a fact of life if you ask me.
