McPhee won't go anywhere.

Should be interesting to see who has nominated for the PSD when the cut off date rolls around.

I'll give you the hot tip, C. Cloke and J. Cloke will be two DUDS that will be there. Neither was spotted at Collingwood's return to training today.

Just in case i haven't already stated this enough times, if we pick up either of those two, i will hunt down Dodoro. Personally.

Why, Dodoro is merely the figure head. I have absolutely no doubt that Kevin Sheedy runs the entire football department. They have all these people in these different positions to advise and make suggestions to Sheeds, but in the end Sheeds is going to do whatever the f*** Sheeds wants to do.

It was Sheedy who was making sounds about picking up Jason Cloke during the trading period, not Dodoro.

we'd be derelict in our duty if we DIDN'T contact the managers of every decent player who isn't currently under contract for next year.

it also says to McPhee...." If you walk out we can just pick you up again, so you may as well just sign anyway" just like Carlton did to Thornton

Definately not the sort of working relationship you would want with any member of the team. McPhee should be offered 3 years and plenty of cash as he is certainly one of our best players when fully fit.
Rubbish. Then why was Lucas only given two. McPhee should take the two years and get on with it. If he is holding out for a 3 year deal then that is pathetic.
Well Rosso?????

Seems that the EFC has changed its policy on 3 year deals???

It works for me!!! :D :D :D

he actually agreed to a new contract a couple of months back. They were holding off on signing though until some of the other contracts were sorted out and they knew more about the $ situation.

And that is why this once great club will not win a flag for some time. It rewards mediocrity.

Obviously they feel that McPhee is a long term prospect who has his best footy ahead of him. I'd have to agree with that judgement.

He's struggled a little in the last couple, mostly due to carrying injuries.

Why?
Notting is a decent player, but not much more. He is very good depth in a top team (such as Brisbane's premiership sides), but hasn't stepped up with greater pressure as Brisbane has slipped. He has adequate, but not brilliant skills. He plays HBF, which is a position we have a surplus of players in already (Cole, NLM, McPhee, Slattery, Welsh). He can have patches of good games, then patches of poor games.

All up, at age 27 he is not a player a bottom of the ladder side should be selecting. It would be better off using the pick on a youngster. Sure, theres more risk involved that the kid could be useless. There is also a probability he'll be a better player, a certainty the kid will be in a position we actually need more players, and a certainty that if the kid does come on we'll have him for ten years instead of three to four.

He might be 27, and he might be a half back flanker, but he's simply a better player than Cole and Welsh at least. It doesn't worry Sydney to be picking up 32 year old guys, why can't we get five servicable years out of Notting? Reckon he's worth a go.

Sydney are recruiting a guy who fixes a hole for them, and so could result in a premiership.

You're saying get a guy in an area we have a surplus in, when we're nowhere near a premiership. And most ordinary footballers don't play till they're 32.

Whether we should have kept Welsh (Cole is contracted) is a different argument.
