who can beat the Pies in 2011???

Post by Jazz_84 »

alright the Pies have won it in 2010, who can take it up to them in 2011 for the Flag? can't have them on 16 flags too!!

Geelong = more then likely gone
St Kilda = this will either totally kill them as a club or make them strive even harder next year.... im guessing the hit will be too much
Doggies = who bloody knows but can't see them being a threat
Freo = could build on this year and challenge a little bit, probably not
Sydney = well drilled team but with new coach and lost a bit of experience it's hard to say
Carlton = nope half decent mids but shit backline wont be a factor
Hawks = another who bloody knows team, would rather them over the pies (just)

i guess it's hard to determine how next year will turn out, surely will be a break out year from any given team but based on what we know it's hard to go past the Pies for yet another in 2011 ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

I reckon 2012 will be a very even year - changing of the guard.

its been collingwood, stkilda, dogs and geelong for too long.

Collingwood won't go back to back, but of course they will up there.

anyway, there is only one side I care about in 2011 and who knows what they can do.

are you saying that in blind hope?

and yes Essendon is of course everyone's main concern!

This year reminds me a litle of 93. A young Collingwood team upset the old hands in St Kilda, Geelong and Bulldogs. A little like we did in 93.

I am pretty sure we havent seen the last of Geelong by the way

There always seems to be a team that comes out of the pack but it will take a very good team to beat Collingwood next year unless they get struck down by injuries.

Geelong - been up for a long time and have a lot of players around the 30yo mark plus a likely new coach and gameplan
St Kilda - They're gone...too many passengers and hard to see them being able to maintain their success unless they improve their gameplan
Bulldogs - Would need everything to go right for them
Freo - Still need another year or two to develop their young players for finals level football
Sydney - New coach, new gameplan...nor lilely challengers
Hawks - Keep their best 22 on the park and pick up 1-2 good recruits and they could be a chance
Carlton - still don't have a forward line or backline capable of playing high level finals football

The rest - meh

Pies will start warm favourites to win number 16 next year :(

Adelaide will be a better team next year and have a core of talented players who can go to another level

Nope. I'll happy lay a bet with anyone that Collingwood will not win next year.

Everyone thought the Hawks would dominate after the 2008 win but look what happened to them.... a year is a long time in footy and Im expecting a very close premiership race again in 2011.

Coll and Geel are still the teams to beat, The Saints and Doggies may drop a little, Hawks, Adel and Fre will improve... then there is still Carl, Syd, NM, there abouts..

Lets hope our beloved Bombers join them!!

Hawthorn would be a chance. I can't see anyone else threatening them at this stage but a lot can happen between now and next October.
