Everitt OUT the door at Hawthorn

Post by dodgey »

No surprise to hear that Peter Everitt has been asked to be traded after negotiations for a New contract broke down.

probably still going to Sydney but with Jolley being GREAT for them this season, they Now mightn't be so eager.

Yeah was probably expecting it. Will also most likely go to Sydney. What can they offer? Will be very interesting.

Hang on, if Everett hasn't signed, doesn't he need to be picked up in the draft? I can never remember how all of this garbled mess works come October...

not necessarily..... ALL player contracts technically expire on 31st October, so Everitt is still a Hawk until then.

IF a suitable trade CAN'T be done, then YES he will have to go Via the draft. But as hawthorn will LOSE him anyway they'll take what they can get at trade time

Is there any way this could help us?
Not directly (don't think we'd want Everitt), but indirectly (three way trade or something like that)?

Ah, that's right - thanks Dodgey!

Hawks sound like they'll only get a 2nd round draft pick, methinks, and that could end up being anywhere between Picks 30-34 if Sydney are the only one's chasing him! (realistically thinking that Sydney will at least make the Prelim and finish top 4)

Nah...can't see Us getting into that trade. Unless the Dawks want a Bolton, Solomon or a Welsh.

Don't really want anything from Sydney anyway

With French retiring, Carlton have no-one who is decent to ruck. Don't know if they will have the cash to pay him though. They should the way they have been going, and now that Kouta is taking a huge amount less.

If Spider went to Carlton, there isn't a lot of upside for the Hawks going the other way in terms of trades (can you see them wanting a Houlihan for example?)

yeah at the moment not as good as spike but his comming along, reminds me abit of winderlich except with more class and more grit. his also managed a goal everygame his played.

i think he would be a handy pick up.

Jarrad is more your mid-sized type than genuine small.

Hard to truly make an impact in a side like Sydney's.

McVeigh junior is a fitness machine. he just runs runs and runs.

Wouldn't mind him.

Would we consider Everitt? If we delist Cartledge and since Ryder is still young and probably injured, we might need another one for a couple of years. Aka + Everitt would be very handy pickups. Wouldnt waste a draft pick on Everitt tho - get him only in the preseason draft

We would be stupid not to get Everitt.
We havent had a ruckman for a few years.
Getting the best tap ruckman in the league makes sense.

Getting Everitt may be a good idea. Getting an older ruckman has worked in the past in terms of results but the development of our younger ruckman would take alot longer.

what is HIlle? Everitt is way past his best, he may be able to tap but his work around the ground is less than average. Stick with Hille and Laycock, Ryder will put on some beef over pre season and be used as pinch hitter. If we are aiming at a g/f in 3 years why get an old hack that will only last 2?
