Players of interest

Post by Ryno »

I have just been through Adelaide and Brisbanes list and noted a few players IMO that will/are may be traded/de-listed at the end of this year. Do you think any of them are worthy to be a Bomber and what would you pay for them?

ADELAIDE
Hayden Skipworth
John Meeson

BRISBANE
D.Bradshaw
A.Corrie
J.Drummond
D.Merrit
M.Micheal
M.Pask
C.Keatin
J.Attard

Definitely Drummond and Skipworth.
The former being dogged by injuries this year, but when on the park is a potential matchwinner and can rack up 25-30 possessions. he is only young with a great left foot.
Skipworth is also a handy player and in a side like Adelaide - who tackle as ferociously as any side - he would be someone we should consider.
He knows how to tag and can also run forward.
He won a game for them last year in the wet when he kicked 4 out of 8 goals by memory.

James Kelly of Geelong is well known to be disgruntled at Geelong. I think we should make a play for him.

Ken Mcgregor of Adelaide now can't get into the Adelaide side. Hopefully he's got the shits well and truly. He would in myopinion be very handy.

Have a look at clubs like WC, Adel etc these are the clubs you would think that should come under salary cap pressure and need like we did in 2001-02 etc to offload some good footbalers because we could not fit them all in. WC i can not figure out how they can aford to have Judd , cousins, Kerr, Cox, Selwood, Matera, Wirrapunda, Sampi etc.. all would be on big money... players like Lecras, Hunter Lynch etc would all want more money next year.

Pass
We have a full-forward that can actually play the game. I also doubt Bomber would get up and say oh yeah we made Kent the scapegoat.

I reckon we should have a look at James Kelly. I believe he aint that quick???...but can find the footy. Though the question is? Do we need another player with lack of pace?

Is worth chasing?

Here's one:

Ryan Ferguson at Melbourne.

Genuine young CHB, hampered by injury this year and will play for Sandringham in the VFL Grand Final this Sunday.

The report in the paper said Thornton and Fisher were both not happy at their offers.

Thornton did have a very good year, Fisher is quite good overhead and still very young.

Probably both worth having a discussion about over a beer or three

Ferguson had a v.good year last year but has hardly got a game during 2006 along with his full back competitor "Jack" Nicholson.
I reckon if Nicholson goes then they will keep Ferguson. Just my theory.
But he would be worth a look if he was available.

Thornton is off limits just because he plays for Carlton - one of the worst defences in the league (besides ours) - he's obviously had many goals kicked on him this year so must be a bit loose.

He wouldnt dream of it. Essendon is the only team in the AFL he can actually kick goals against.
