Who am I?
I was a top junior footballer and cricketer
I scored a century in the U12 cometition in my local cricket league (a competition where a batsman had to retire at 30 and give others a go - but can return to resume innings when all wickets fall).
I concentrated on my football career and won an Essendon U19 best & fairest at the age of 15
I played over 200 games for the EFC but never won a best & fairest
I played in 2 premierships and played a significant role in both of them

Believe it or not there was criticism of Thurgood early in his career.

I was recruited from the VFA after being rejected from another VFL club
I won a B&F
I took mark of the year
My last game was in a final
I played in 4 grand finals

Who am I?
I'm the son of a former Essendon champion
However, I was not recruited under the father / son rule
I came to EFC after quitting my original club
I played over 100 AFL games, but was not noted as a finals performer

Well University wasn't playing in 1937 so that's wrong. Seeing that South Melbourne made the Grand Final in 1936, I'll change my answer to South Melbourne
