Lights out in Brissie.

Who was at Waverley in June 96 when the lights went out?

Did you burn the post in the centre of the ground?

Yep, was there. Bizarre. No announcements whatsoever. Behind posts removed, fires lit. Was very amusing.

I can’t remember at what point we just up and left.

Weird scenario that the remaining 23 minutes (I believe) was played in 2 halves on the Tuesday night following that game.

Some players had to be replaced from that Saturday night due to injury. Hird was brought in (much to the loud protests from St.Kilda fans - and some in the media). Hird played the remaining 23 minutes, and 3AW awarded him a vote post match - which you could hear Saints fans screaming abuse in the background. Then we heard Rex on air - open the door and told them to get stuffed

Blumfield also debuted in the remaining 23 minutes of the game.

Not so long after the lights went out, things got a bit bizarre.
You could not help but notice the young bloke streaming around the wing with flaming dunny paper streaming from his arse. That was a first for me, but it was almost eclipsed by a group of lads escorting one of the goal posts out of the ground.
The game was replayed a few days later and I thought,”who is going to turn up for 20 minute of football”??
Well it turned out about 15,000 did and I confess, I was one of them.
Too far for Baker now he's on to it, now he’s got it, OPEN GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Dons are in front by one point at the 8 minute mark

I wasn't there.

But I laughed tonight when one of the TV news services (can't remember which one) told us that "an electrical fault was to blame" for the Brissie lights going out.

Wasn’t this sort of stuff predicted lately?

Mainly New South Wales and Queensland.
