spud farming?

Post by little_ripper »

Gwilt and now Giles?

I really hope these guys instead blossom in their twilight years at the Essendon retirement home.

I also hear Sheedy is coming back with influence over the football department.

#-o

Love for us to secure the signature of a good promising young player. You know like an O'Rourke, Crisp.
Or some decent quality like you know Christensen or a Beams.

C'mon bombers make something of the trade period.

If we end up with simply Gwilt, Giles, a couple of draft picks and lose Paddy...well that would be a pretty ordinary trade period.

Brisbane have gotten the deal of the century on that one.

Christensen and Beams and they have given up draft picks and Crisp.

Still not finalized though I don't think.

Suns have got Hallihan out of Hawks as well.
Good fringe player there as well we should have looked at. Recruited from the same club as Luke Parker earlier than him and developed by the Hawks.

Giles IMO is slow with suspect skills. I guess when your losing a ruckman of the calibre of Ryder, everyone looks pretty ordinary.

'Cause no duds have ever been recruited from clubs that guns come from.

Giles recieved a lot of praise for his play in the first two GWS years. As a second/back up option you're not going to do much better.

Hallihan won the Liston in 2013 when Box Hill won the flag.

Actually agree here...
That said, we will not be able to replace Ryder...

Patfull to GWS for the pick that got Christensen. Patfull is a big loss to their inexperienced backline.

Good point. They have traded well though and are still ahead.

That's not the point. The point is that who gives a f*** who else played for the club he came from? Also Prismall was a VFL gun.

He was drafted from the Dandenong Stingrays the same year as Thomas Lynch (GC) Jake Batchelor (Rich) Luke Parker (Syd) Andrew Mcinnes (Carl) Aaryn Siposs (StK)

So i do take your point on board as that list confirms some make it some don't. However to win a senior league best and fairest in the 2nd best league in the country is nothing to laugh at, which you're doing. At the moment you only subjecting your opinion he's a dud cause he cant break into the back to back premiership team midifeld.

And two on that list are 4th and 5th round selections.

So if you look at the early selections from the remaining three, I would take Tom Lynch or Luke Parker in a heartbeat at Essendon.

I havent seen a lot of Box Hill, but I have a couple of mates who have watched them religiously and Hallihan can play.

FFS I didn't call him a dud, merely pointed out that one player being good is no guarantee that another from the same club will be.

And we should know all too well that VFL form doesn't always equate to AFL form.
