However, Kelly plus Stringer would be a pretty clear statement of intent.
I doubt we will have many draft picks for the next 2 seasons if we pull that off but that's fine, plenty of young kids with potential already in the squad
And Stringer was going to head the list.
I`d be interested to hear what others think of him but I reckon he is WAY TOO inconsistant.

Aaron Francis is the Messiah.
Re: Who do we want?
Apparently need to get him off the sauce first. A couple of others from the doggies may be following him. One midfielder who used to have long curly locks and can kick a few goals very unhappy.j-mac31 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2017 4:54 pm"Not entirely useless" sums up our last 15 years.boncer34 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2017 4:46 pmWas terrible this year and still managed to generate 3 shots on goal a game. Situation has Andy Lovett written all over it.

Re: Who do we want?
Apparently stringer had serious family issues this year? Divorce, custody issues etc?
Re: Who do we want?
He's actually a nice guy.
And because he's a 23 year old forward that kicks 2 goals a game?
Essendon Football Club- We arent arrogant, just deluded.
Re: Who do we want?
So what's his issue if he's a "nice guy"? Gets dropped during a premiership year, and again the following season. Can't be because "he averages 2 goals a game".

Re: Who do we want?
Well he's obviously had some personal issues this year. Is he over them? I dunno.
But being depressed and upset over life doesn't mean you aren't a nice guy.
Reality is at his best he's got a ton of talent, is that worth taking the punt on? I wouldn't have thought so for the price the Dogs will want but I can see why the club might feel differently.
EDIT: Fwiw I think you and him would get along over a beer Benny. His views on the AFL media closely mirror yours and he absolutely hates being called package.

Re: Who do we want?
How exactly do people think we are going to get talent to this club without taking risks? We are going to have a bucketload of open spots this year, we have cash, this is the type of risk we need to take.
Re: Who do we want?
Pretty much.
There's an incredibly talented player on the market who has signaled interest in us.
Is it a risk?
Absolutely but there is the reward of a 50 goal a year forward.
So we can either take the risk and be bold or do the Essendon thing and play it safe and keep middling in mediocrity.

Thing is mate I can see why you would think he's a dick.
He does love a strut on the field and the way the commentators and co. gush over him with wanky nicknames is absurd.
But he's actually a humble bloke and lets be honest we love the on field strutting of Raz etc I'm sure we could learn to love this bloke.
It's just all about getting his mind right and off-field stuff settled.

Re: Who do we want?
Somebody on one of the online Herald-Sun Chat forums asked whether the following aggressive scenario was possible.
Thoughts?
I'd also be interested in Lloyd of Richmond who over the past 6 weeks has been getting unbelievable possession numbers as an inside mid in the VFL (try 50 possies for one game and a few of 30+ with a couple of bags of 4). He is 27 so would be cheap. Pushed out by Prestia and Shai Bolton.
Jon Ralph suggested that the bids were in the right ballpark, but there may be salary cap pressures.Stringer to Bombers for Pick #11
M Kennedy (GWS) to Bombers for 2nd Round Pick
Miles (Rich) to the Bombers for 3rd Round Pick
Tom Rockliff Free Agency signing

Personally, I don't care what the nonsense or swagger is like on the field ... just as long as it's backed up by performance and there aren't big issues off the field.
Took us years to change the culture and I would prefer that the party years are long behind us.

Re: Who do we want?
Stringer would be a great pick up. Something we need IMHO.
Any chance of Kelly?
Any chance of Kelly?
Re: Who do we want?
So Stringer is officially available.
The list of issues is long - "a lack of professionalism in preparation, at training and the rehabilitation of injuries, compounded by a litany of off-field issues, ranging from his personal situation with his former partner, the stresses of being a young father, to behavioural concerns." - according to Herald Sun article.
And you'd have to guess he wasn't able to offer any guarantees to the Dogs that he's going to fix them any time soon.
I'm thinking we should give him a miss.

Fox Footy also reporting Josh Kelly re-signing with GWS for 2 years.

Stringer, Gaff and Rockcliff would do nicely.
