KYLE Reimers actually didn't want orange boots. His first choice was red. "I wanted red ones, but Nike only had the boot I liked in black and orange. And because I don't wear black boots, orange it was," the young Essendon midfielder revealed last night.
Reimers' choice of footwear has gripped the football world since he first wore the orange boots in the Dreamtime Game against Richmond in Round 9. And the 19-year-old is loving it.
"People have got something new to say to me and I just laugh about it now," Reimers said.
"My opponents get into me and I just say, 'Well, I'm getting more kicks than you in them'. I play better when I'm angry so when they get into me I love it."
Gun.
I thought he would be one to upgrade numbers at the end of the year, but I have a feeling that a lot of kids might be wandering into the Bomber Shop this week to buy 37s! Hope he keeps that number, he is really starting to make it his own.

He's got a great attitude for footy. And he will go a long way with it.
I think in years to come we will all marvel at the trade with Solomon for picks 42 & 47. Gems they are.
Attacks the footy, and the man with the footy, hard. Can get his own pill, but has the speed and finishing ability to get the handball recieve and set up the play. Won't take a backward step; we needed to find some players with a good bit of concrete in 'em.
Along with Lonergan, has taken the onus off Watto to be our sole clearance/hard ball winner.
Love the bloke. Wears his heart on his sleeve, and his celebrations are awesome, even if a little early at times.
I'm considering buying some white volleys and spray painting them orange for the Brissie match as a mark of respect.
He's tough, smart, quick, agile, and has good disposal. That kick to Jetta was amazing. Clean pick up, spun on the spot with someone behind him, spotted Jetta up 40m away and kicked it perfectly to him. Going to love watching this bloke play 200+ games in red and black.
It's always good to have a player that everyone else hates. It will take the focus off some other players. Hopefully Reimers can keep it up as he will be great for this club.
