Japan Trip

Post by swoodley »

Just saw this article on the Age website:

http://www.realfooty.theage.com.au/real ... 32843.html

Future club leaders Jobe Watson, Angus Monfries, Andrew Lovett, Nathan Lovett-Murray, Jay Nash, Jason Winderlich and Brent Stanton will be accompanied by fitness coach John Quinn, chief executive Peter Jackson and possibly one more player.

looks like these guys are all safe from any trade talk.

Hope you're right - wouldn't want to see any of those guys traded.

Hopefully it has more of an impression on the young guys than it did on Solly! I think that is a good young group to take along, and are all players you would want to keep at the moment.

I think it will be especially good for Stants and Nash who seem particularly quiet. Might give them a bit more self confidence in speaking up on and off the field.

I reckon Dyson would have to be a bit stiff for not getting on the trip.

I certainly would have taken him over Winderlich and Nash.

You bloody Dyson lovers!!

Tell me what has the kid done or shown to suggest he will be any good?

IMO he has shown the Cory McGragh ability to dominate VFL but do stuff at at AFL level.

The other guys have all proven at AFL level than they can cut it, even if only for a game or two like Winderlich and Nash.

Im still not convinced Dyson will even be with us beyond next season.

Dyson needs to do a Jobe Watson in my opinion - he needs to become more physical in the Akermanis mould of outside mid-fielders. Explosive pace and killer finishing. I dont think he has the physique to do this yet

Dyson has got alot of pace and has great skills.
He just isn't getting enough time to prove to everyone that he does derserve to be playing AFL, and he has the skills to be a great player.

IMO Dyson started to show what he is capable of last week. Taking on the opposition, and braking through lines. He will be very good with more years, and focus! He should definitely be included in the trip!

Dyson was on Cooney at the start of the game, and except for the three missed goals it could've been safe to say he was showing him some clean heels.
He looked very dangerous early, only to fade out.

I think Dyson needs a little bit more fitness. He is quick but as F111 said, most games he tends to fade out.

Good to see they are instilling some leadership into the young lads. Hopefully it will pay off, as i dont think the last one has done too much for the on field side of things.

What are they doing? Going to sample the Sushi? Meet The Iron Chef? I want someone to lead them to finals, not a qustionable fitness coach leading them to the Far East.

Oh sorry Gossy, how silly of me. I forgot we had been finally reviewed and dragged kicking and screaming into the new millenium.

I think that there has been some question over Dyson's commitment and work ethic on the training track, this could explain why he hasnt got a trip to Japan. I do think he has shown a hell of a lot more than Winderlich.

Very good point, uptick. No slattery. Thought he has shown some leadership qualities. May be other reasons though...

It's my brother who is the Dyson lover.

I just reckon Dyson is better than Nash or Winderlich and therefore should have gone.
