Still a bit concerned about the underdone players. Melbourne have lost some of their better players so we should still have a comfortable win.

Not sure how Monfries gets a game ahead of Zaharakis....form must not have been the deciding issue

There are 4 guys who need to have big games for their own benefit on the selection table (or at least at my selection table).

They are Skipworth, Davey, Lonergan and Monfries.

These guys have had inconsistent years or with Skipworth - injury interruptions - which has raised questions in my mind that they need to get some points on the board for later in the year if we are serious about September.

f***...after looking at Melbourne's team, we should smash them....they have lost quite a few of their more experienced players and I can't say I know much about several of their inclusions.

C: Neville Jetta, Brock McLean, Jamie Bennell
HF: Russell Robertson, Brad Miller, Matthew Bate
F: Brad Green, Colin Sylvia, Liam Jurrah
Foll: Paul Johnson, Jack Grimes, Cameron Bruce
I/C: Brent Moloney, Cale Morton, Jack Watts, Kyle Cheney
Emg: Lynden Dunn, Addam Maric, Ricky Petterd

In: Bartram, Bennell, Jetta, Jurrah, Martin, Miller
Out: Mark Jamar (quad), Nathan Jones (virus), James McDonald (knee), Matthew Warnock (virus), Daniel Bell, Addam Maric

New: Liam Jurrah (Yuendumu Magpies, NT)

You'd hope they just need to give the first year player a break. I reckon he's showing a few signs of high-pressured season taking it's toll.

Monfries has benefitted from other guys getting injured or ill week after week. The 2 omissions are sort of expected TBH. Houli missing due to a virus is bad luck. Houli played well last week.

The Dees will definately be undermanned but with a young team comes enthusiasm so they still shouldnt be taken lightly. With the team we have on the park though (even with the underdone players) we should win easily. Nothing less than 40 points and i will be happy.

Looking forward to seeing how McVeigh, Welsh, Pris, Reimers and Fletch go after the major injuries they have had. Im actually looking forward to seeing young Jurrah from the Dees as well, he looks very exciting and could be anything!

Can't expect 18 year olds to run out a whole season of AFL football.

Bendigo have a bye this week, so to Zaka, put your feet up this weekend and chillax.

Agreed. Monfries has had very few good games this year, and his best game was only because his opponent (Hodge) was hopelessly injured.

Zaka has slowed down as the year has progressed and i'm not entirely surprised at his omission. Even though Neagle has done almost nothing 2 of the last 3 weeks, i reckon he's a bit stiff too - instead of playing against Melbourne and (hopefully) having plenty of goal scoring opportunities, he's going to be catching a cold playing in Bendigo's forward line.

He'd be standing out there by himself, I think Bendigo have a bye this week

Will they do enough to get the 4 points this weekend?

Thank god for that. He'll get more match practice kicking a ball 10m around in the changerooms before the game tomorrow night.
