Rumour - Knights to Richmond

Talk about everything Essendon. Past, Present and Future if it's about the Bombers this is the place to be.

Rumour - Knights to Richmond

Post by Madden »

Has been all over the media this morning. And now this from BB.
I wasn't going to post this here, but now that it has been all over the radio I thought it was worthy to be looked at and discussed.

A rumour going around is that Richmond will be announcing that Knights will be their head coach in 2010. Apparently both Richmond and Knights have agreed not to discuss this publicly until Essendon's challenge for a finals campaign is over.

Personally, I don't believe it. BUT, given it has now been reported on 3AW, SEN and C10 I am starting to think there may be some truth to it. The media outlet I work in have contacted both Richmond and Knights who have offered no comment. Richmond have said they are still going through a process and will make a comment in due course.

I have also received 3 pms this morning from people on BB who are usually in the know suggesting they have heard similar.

I don't believe it, but at least we can say we had it on BB first if it does come true.
Think it is unlikely but still worth posting. The person who posted it on BB (fogdog) is well connected and normally on the money.

Thoughts?

I doubt that its true, just so that's clear. But thought it was worth posting given it has been all over the TV and radio this morning.

Never signed an extension - that was just innuendo.

Sounds like someone's playing funny buggers.

Personally, I don't think it will happen, however, if he does go...maybe we can then get one of Hardwick or Bomber :D

Nothing on the websites of The Age, Herald Sun or SEN.

This would be pretty big news. If it were true, Craig Hutchison would have it up by now.

If this is true, then I am the poorest judge of human character. In what I have seen and heard from Knighta so far, this is completely opposite to the person that has impressed the hell out of me so far.

if it proves to be incorrect, I hope we vcan nail the bastard that started it.

If true, then we are stuffed for the rest of the year as we were when Sheeds was pushed.
Too far for Baker now he's on to it, now he’s got it, OPEN GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Dons are in front by one point at the 8 minute mark

If this is true I'll go hopping to China.

But just in case I think Hardwick would also be a great coach

God, I will laugh if this is the case, after what Frawley and Wallace copped over the last 10 years.

I'll swan dive off the West Gate if this is true.

Yeah, 25 years ago they were spreading similar rumours about Sheedy returning to Punt Rd after Francis Bourke was sacked....

I can't see this happening.

He has been at the club for 4 years now, and knows our list as a whole and each player on it very well. He is almost 2 years into implementing a game plan (Which he would have also been pushing when he was coaching Bendigo), and you can see the improvement and potential in the list. You are at a stable club who are backing you all the way.

Why would he then go to Richmond and start again with a fairly average list (yes, I know we lost to them) and start all over again? Besides his history with the club, I can't see any other reason behind coaching that club.

My first reaction to this rumour was that it was out and out bullshit but I simply cannot explain the complete ineptitude dished up but virtually every player at Bomberland in the last 2 weeks.

As a conspiracy theorist from way back, perhaps there is some truth to it and the players are in shock, are sooking and are incapable of playing properly.

I'm probably barking up the wrong tree but I cant explain the complete form turn around from the Sydney game and these 2 embarassments.
