Misfits, Teachers Pets and Sheedy Project Players 22

Post by Windy_Hill »

Throughout Sheedy's career as Essendon coach, he was famous for championing the underdog. Over his 27 years, more dead set duds got a game with the famous black and red than perhaps for all other clubs combined. To be fair, some players managed to eke out reasonable careers. On the other hand, some were simply out of their depth. However, being loved by Sheeds was a passport to footballing success no matter your talent.

I am going to have a crack at a starting 22 but please help me fill in the blanks

FB: Dean Wallis Ty Zantuck Danny McAlister
HB: Mark Bolton Kevin Walsh Paul Hamilton
C:
HF: Ed Considine Trevor Spencer
FF: Courtney Johns Damien Cupido

Ruck: Aaron Henneman, , Tony Antrobus
I/C: Peter Somerville

Kepler Bradley would have to be in the team. Possibly Marc Bullen.

He did but he was still very much a project player.

What about a few project / recyled bods in ...:

Mark Alvey
Richard Cole
Jordan Bannister
Tim Darcy
James Davies
Ben Doolan
Peter Filandia
David Flood
Rob Forster-Knight
Mark Fraser
Ilija Grgic
Ben Haynes
Sam Hunt

That's all I can think of for now.

LMAO ross.

Yeah, Richard cole was a disgrace, but retaining Henno and Bolts that long was just wrong. Sheeds coached himself out of a job.

Zantuck was actually prolly the worst. I cant believe some people here thought he could hold down CHB for us.

HERE IS ONE MASSIVE DONKEY OF A PLAYER THAT PEOPLE HAVE FORGOTTEN - JOEL REYNOLDS
Our very own WindyHill said he would be EFC's next Brownlow Medalist! Sorry Windy, but that was a shocking call mate.

How long was Corey McGrath on our list?

What is more unbelievable is that after we got rid him of him Carlton picked him up and he spent a good 3-5 years playing senior football for them!! :D

I think he was part of the Murphy, Alan trade ealesy.

Man how many throw aways did Sheeds waste draft picks on? We could have being drafting young kids and blooding new players. Instead wasting spots on the list with has beens or never was beens.

Didnt think Somerville was that bad towards the end of his career.

1995 - Draft selection: 15, Darren Wheildon - He would have been an absolute gun for us but damn that Taxi.

Draft selection: trade, Shane Strempel from Brisbane - By then it was too late Walls had his head punched in. :P
