Re: Season 2010 Fixture
I think sometime ago it was reported that Essendon had put a special request to play sydney round 1. A season opener to promote the game in nsw. they wanted it played maybe a week(or half week) early on its own to get a national tv audience.Mrs Mercuri wrote:Better not bot be the Swans in Syd in round 1.... im sick of us getting interstate games in round 1. Re: Season 2010 Fixture
The swans often start their season slowly, so 4 points is 4 points. If it was guaranteed I'd head up there and be happy to.

Re: Season 2010 Fixture
Beat me to it Tom, I was going to post something similar. I also think that this would become an ongoing arrangement if it is done, though I don't know if it is Sydney vs Essendon or Sydney vs Whoever they want...tom9779 wrote:I think sometime ago it was reported that Essendon had put a special request to play sydney round 1. Re: Season 2010 Fixture
The draft draw is (or just has been) released this week "under embargo" to media so they can cross check against other commitments (like homes and gardens) and put their 2 cents in about scheduling to maximise their TV and radio audiences.Jazz_84 wrote:i dunno how this was known but Brisbane is playing Carlton in round 2.... read that in an article somewhere so that in itself could mean it's BS
Of course - despite being embargoed - some of the draw will leak....

Re: Season 2010 Fixture
At this stage it may be Round1: Ess v Geelong
"Demetriou would not explain the reasoning behind the Geelong-St Kilda scheduling, pointing out the current fixture was in draft form only. As it is, the reigning premier is scheduled to play Essendon in round one on Friday night at the MCG, with St Kilda playing the Swans in Sydney."
(From realfooty.com.au)
edit:
oops...just saw the other post!
