Many fantastic Bomber moments over the years but apart from the bumps & brawls the 3 best in my opinion are

Anzac day comeback in 2009 against the filth, say no more.

The last quarter of the '84 grand final against the dawks, but the best was;

The last quarted comeback in '83 (i think) against the scum at Princes Park when we were 23 points down at the 22min mark & Neale Daniher cut loose & we scored 4 quick goals & won by 1 point. Fitzpatrick had the ball taken off him for time wasting , in front of the social club, which sent the scum moron supporters ballistic. Brilliant seeing the gloating scum players & supporters crying at the end of the game after they were laughing at us 5 minutes before.

Remember being unable to hardly talk after the game as i yelled so much in those last minutes. Also recall seeing Sheeds in the coaching box standing & clapping the players as they walked off the ground.

Why is this my favourite? Because it was against the scum on their own dunghill.

That would be 1981, Ronny. Round 20. Neale Daniher became my favourite player after that game. Then he done his knee the following week, and that was that. Could have been an all time great - Neale. Tragic.

84 G.F. when Tim Watson iced the game after a run down the wing and slotted another goal from about 30 out.

I was with my older and equally fanatical brothers just behind the Cheers Squad - We all stood on the backs of our bench seats - turned to the crowd - fists in the air - TRIUMPHANT!!!!!!! It doesn't get better than that!!!!

Although the 2000 G.F. display by Sir James was sublime!

Oh - And Longy's run and goal in the '93 G.F.!
My material isn't very good..Oh...and then there's the bladder problem.

A couple have mentioned the 93 prelim.. An awesome day that one.

I was playing a state basketball tournament in Albury. I had to play 2 games in 3 hours. I was flying on the court in the first game. During the 2nd half, the Bombers game had started. One of the other parents had a trannie, every time I got down one end of the court, I would yell "SCORE!". And he would yell it out for me. We weren't going too well, and I was taking out my anger on the court, which was good. When the game finished, I looked around for the old man. The b*astard had disappeared to the pub with former Pies & Bulldogs player Butch Edwards (his son was on my team). So I've gone to the car, as this stupid stadium didn't have one bloody TV! I was smacking the dashboard, overcome with rage as the Crows tore us a new ar$ehole in the first half.

My 2nd game started 10mins after the 3rd quarter started at the footy. Again, the other 'old man' was feeding me the scores. The footy was getting close, and I had already done the damage on the scoreboard in my game (we were 25 or 30 points up). So, I threw the ball at the face of an absolute smart ar$e on the other team. Got him bang-on the schnoz! I got ejected, and ran straight to the car, where I screamed my lungs out til the end. F****** beautiful.

Dad turned up with Butch about 3 hours absolutely maggoted, lucky b*astards.

Even following who I do in PERTH Paddy, where the Fortunes are Reversed for the RED and BLACKS,We NEVER Leave until the Final Siren.Gives us the chance to have a Good Moan with a TINNY OR 3 in the PIG PEN AFTER THE GAME.Sometimes, the odd WIDE GRIN!Like our last Home game, with a Rare 20 Goal Win.Don't ask BENNY HOWLETT about that one.I didn't see him after that. #-o :D

From my Live 20 or so ESSENDON Games,I like reflecting on -

1998 - 6 point Win over CARLTON after being 25 points down.I was standing Mid Aisle in the PONSFORD Stand when SCOTTIE's Shot NEVER LOOKED LIKE MISSING.Arms outstretched Yelling -"YES!YES,YES!!!!!!!!!"Felt a bit sorry for SOS,but MAGIC all the same.

1998- 3 point THRILLER against the AINTS at 1st visit to VFL PARK.WINDY,DRIZZLY Day.But I was ready for it as the BOMBERS overcame All Odds to record an Important win to Qualify for the Finals that year.Disappointing finish to '98,I know, but the game itself had lots to offer.CALTHORPE getting UP their Nose at Half time was great,HIRDY's courage to get up after MITCHELL's FEROCIOUS BUMP,LLOYDIE providing a Reliable Target,BORIS kicking the Winning Goal,Loved that.50 000 there. Not much to you blokes, but to this Small Town Boy,........

2003 - 44 point SPANKING of those DUDS Freo Put them in their Place in the ELIMINATION Final. And then, just to prove the WEIRDOS they really are, starting CHANTING Freo near the Final Siren.MEDIOCRITY Runs Rife down there, despite HARVS DESPERATELY Trying to Rectify that.HIRDY just SENSATIONAL,Farmer hardly firing a SHOT,despite getting away with being a SMARTARSE early.I TRICK PONY!

From the gloom of the 70's came this moment in 1981..... about 37 seconds into the clip..... the mercurial Timmy Watson in the Escort Cup Grand Final v the scumbags Carlton. Just 19 years old...

Ha easy.

I forget the game or even the year... but it was Vs Roos, Hirdy was on the boundry and Winston Abraham (bless him) ran up to Hirdy to lay a BIG SCARY BUMP... Hirdy looked like he'd been crashed into by a mozzie. Abraham just about left the ground on a stretcher. It helps that I really don't like that guy, so it was a highlight of Hirdy's career ;)

Many favourite moments amount those mentioned here are a couple no-one mentioned

1. What about the 96 Elimination against Westcoast... late in the game Hird puts through a bomb from 65 meters and the whole crowd starts waving jackets and scarves above their heads .. Sheedy style... goose bumps

2. What about the preliminary final in 2000 against the kanga's when they are trying to stop Lloyd kicking 100 and so all the rest of our players and going ballistic.. then in the last quarter they get the ball to him and he dobbs it through and everyone runs on to the ground ... the crowd was mental that day..

I think people forget how good Watson was. It happens to lots of players that go into the media.

billyduckworth wrote:Indeed, very hard to pinpoint just one moment. There are so many.

If I must choose one, then I'll go for Leon Baker's goal in the opening seconds of the final quarter of the 84 GF. It was the signal that we meant business and that there was a real chance we could overhaul a 4 goal deficit.

(sorry, rockhole, I've probably stolen your favourite moment too?)
No Probs, Billy. Just catching up with the site after being AWOL.

Benny's right in my mind. The goal that put us in front did it for me and still does.

Sorry to bore you with it again, but from the lips of Tim Lane on Channel 2:-

Too far for Baker now he's on to it, now he’s got it, OPEN GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Dons are in front by one point at the 8 minute mark
