Essendon v Melbourne Match Thread

Post by paddyl90 »

Yeh...going early I know but going straight through after work in the morning.

For no reason and all I'm really confident of a big win. Interesting to see if the information on Gumby comes through or not? I'm taking my niece to her first ever footy game today! She's very excited so hopefully the boys can get her a win! She won't be the only one with tears should it be a disaster #-o hehe. Hope to see some good discussion after the game tomorrow around here!

i thought that last week, when i thought we had a sniff at finals.

faaaarkin weak last week. worst ever. anything (other than a 14 goal thumping) will be an improvement.

My first game in 9 weeks. I thought when I went O.S. that i'd be pumped and looking forward to the game - but like many here, I have a strong streak of indifference.

Also like some here, I'm starting to consider a loss and bringing it all to a head might be what we need.
My material isn't very good..Oh...and then there's the bladder problem.

Think I'm feeling the same. I'm about to head off to the ground now and of course like every single game you ever go to, you always hope for a win, but because of the unusual situation at the moment, yes, I think I am also "considering" a loss might be a good thing to really force the issue. I suppose the worst possible result would be something in the middle, like a narrow win. The optimists would see this as improvement and the pessimists would see it as the same old same old so no-one would be happy!!

a loss next week against West Coast would be the one that would bring it all to a head.

Is it 100% Gumbleton is going to be out, or is it still just a rumour at this stage?

I agree... that would be disatrous...

Im not overly confident about today; i have a feeling that either we will thrash them or they will beat us by a couple of goals... hard to tell after the form we produced last week.

I will be surrounded by Melb supporters today so Im hoping the boys will make me proud so i can leave the G a happy girl! :D

Gumbles definitely out.
This game will be close either way. Which probably doesn't do us any favours no matter the result.
Just play and win and we can forget about the embarrassment of last week.

f*** me...I've always liked Lonergan but he is totally useless so far today....every time the ball gets near him, the Melbourne backs clear it out....he is too slow and is lacking in effort so far.

Melbourne's midfield is smashing us and as usual, our delivery into the forward 50 is crap.

Not sure how much more of this shit I want to watch.

We are crap, I think we all know this, but gee whiz, the umps have handed Melbourne 2 coompletely unwarranted 50M penalties from which they score 2 goals - just like the first qtr against Adelaide last week. Given the fragile mental state of our guys, this cant be helping!!!

Knights has changed the Game Plan for the 2nd qtr - he has sent Campo to get the beers instead of Prescott

This is a debacle.
They've had 30 more possessions, 46 marks to 19, and yet they're still out-tackling us!
Sort it out for f*ck's sake!

Melbourne now have received 4 50m penalties and scored 4 goals from them - All 4 penalties incredibly harsh according to commentary on MMM

Quite right but it sort of veils the bigger issue here, which is that we simply can't get a kick.
