2010 Essendon + Interstate Sides

Post by brad »

Interstate Sides

Lost 6
Won 0

Fremantle (at home), West Coast (away), Port Adelaide (at home), Sydney (away), Adelaide (away), West Coast (home)

Victorian Sides

Lost 5
Won 5

Lost to: Geelong, Collingwood, Geelong, Hawthorn, Melbourne
Won: Carlton, Hawthorn, St Kilda, Richmond, Bulldogs

NOW let's look at Richmond (just for the sake of an interesting comparison)

Interstate Sides
Lost 3 Sydney (away at SCG), Fremantle (away at Subi), Adelaide (away at AAMI)
Won 5 Port Adelaide (away at AAMI), West Coast (home at MCG), Brisbane (away at GABBA), Sydney (home at MCG), Fremantle (home at Etihad)

Victorian teams
Lost 8
Won 0

Point of thread?

Essendon has not been able to win ONE game Vs an Interstate side all year up to Round 16 and are only a chance now against Brisbane (with our one remaining game Vs an interstate side).

Richmond has not been able to beat a Victorian side all year and won their 5 games Vs interstate sides only. Will they beat a Victorian side this year?

the real anomaly I reckon is that amongst the bottom 4 sides, we have the worst record against teams in the Bottom 8. However, and very strangely, we have the best record against teams in the Top 8.
