2011 Essendon Fixture Prediction Thread

Post by paddyl90 »

What we all think will be given to us by the the AFL Software next Friday.

I think we will go interstate 5 times: 1 x Perth (v Freo) , 1 x Adelaide (v Port), 1 x Bris & 1 x GC and 1 x Syd.

Also think we might get an easy run of games early with a tough period of games mid season playing top 8 teams.

Hope we get a bye around round 12 / 13 to freshen up the team heading into the second half of the year. The second bye would be ideal, should we be near finals, in Rounds 23 or 24 but think they might give it to teams that are guaranteed to make finals next year...e.g. Collingwood, St Kilda, WB, Gee etc.

I love dissecting the fixture when it comes out, this year will be even better as I can plan my interstate trips!! Lots of choices too.

We will play interstate 7 times
We play this years top eight 2 times each
We will be forced to play Collingwood at their Flag unfurling
We will have a 5 day break between a trip to Subiaco and fronting St Kilda at Etihad

We will be right royally screwed by the AFL

Surely it has to be a HOME GAME!

2000 HOME Vs Port Adelaide (opening of Colonial Stadium)
2001 AWAY Vs Kangaroos
2002 AWAY Vs Geelong
2003 AWAY Vs Brisbane at the GABBA
2004 AWAY Vs Port Adelaide at AAMI
2005 AWAY Vs Melbourne
2006 HOME Vs Sydney
2007 AWAY Vs Adelaide at AAMI
2008 AWAY Vs Kangaroos
2009 AWAY Vs Port Adelaide at AAMI
2010 AWAY Vs Geelong

Don't think any other team would have had a run like that.

Herald/Sun reporting today that we've requested a home game first up for Hirdy's debut as coach against a Melbourne team.

Already set in stone are:

Carlton V Richmond (Thursday)
Geelong V St Kilda (Friday)
Adelaide V Hawthorn
West Coast V North Melbourne

We won't play Collingwood as ANZAC Day isn't far from Round 1.

This leaves us Western Bulldogs or Melbourne if we are to get our request.

If it's out of the Bulldogs or Melbourne then I'd rather play the Dogs first up to give us a real test.

This! My cousin and I are already talking up a road trip. Went to Sydney for that game when we beat the Swans by a point and had an absolutley BLINDING weekend. Need to do it again. :D

the draw is getting easier to predict every year i reckon....too many commerical interests at stake.

the AFL will have essendon play every state and we will request it for exposure/$$$.

the big news will be GC twice - GC will have ,most of the big 4 home and away I reckon to boost their attendence/exposure, Brisbane in melbourne only(cant see us having 2 QLD trips - depends if we go there for NAB cup as well),

Sydney away(we will keep requesting this until GWS come in - its why we aint seen a home game against them in so long)...as soon as 2012 rolls around tho....different story.

At least one Subi trip....maybe two with the new SUbi sponsors lobbying the AFL to get us there.

think we might only go to SA once for either port or crows.

then fill out the rest of our draw with Pies/Hawks/Blues/Tiges/Saints twice.

we will def only play Melb and North once, and we might get spared from having to play the cats or dogs twice.

we will play a stack of night games, having a large share of friday night footy.
