Our Sash is Too Thick and Here's Why

Post by Windy_Hill »

Its been bugging me for some time. Yes, i know that the sash has at least been straightened but unfortuntely it remains too thick. Now I am not suggesting we return to the heritage jumper with the thin sash although to be honest I think it looks sensational. But a return to the same thickness as we had in the 90's would be acceptable

So why not?

Well here is the reason - the sash is being forced wider to accomodate commercial sponsor logos. Nothing more, nothing less. Thanks goodness we are not being sponsored by fashion label Jean Paul Gaultier (unless its for our clash jumper!)

Have a look at this photo - The Samsung blue border is provided with a near perfect fit on the red sash back ground

I guess sponsor interests are important but couldnt we have used a smaller font?

Ahah,you've stumbled on to something.

The theory seems to coincide with our ever increasing injury list.

Samsung's the culprit.

Don't give a rats' arse.. it's what's under the jumper that counts.

Another possible explanation for the increasing width could be that it helps avoid "clashes" with other clubs jumpers and thus eases the pressure on the club to produce a real clash jumper like some of the other hideous creations in existence (Carlton's baby blue m&m's jumper springs to mind).

All the extra red would provide more of a contrast against the likes of St Kilda, Richmond and Melbourne.

Melbourne are rejoicing in a new $1.5m sponsorship deal in today's paper, our deal with Samsung is what $5m? whatever they want give it to them!

last years jumper the Samsung logo was bigger and went over onto the black, however they were sole sponsors and probably paying us more then this year

Samsung will not be sponsoring us next year...they are supposedly putting their sponsorship dollars into the Olympics.

We are currently seeking a new naming right sponsor for season 2012.

Remember elastoplast sponsoring Carey? Played like a mummy untill he lost the sponsorship, then miraculously never needed it again!

Has there ever been a bigger gap between a player's ability and thier moral fibre?

Pays to advertise, BD ;)

I couldn't give an aviators intercourse how thick the sash is (within reason) as long as it's there, and red, and on a black background. If you're getting the ruler out for this one, maybe you need a new hobby ;)
