I have a feeling we elevated him to the senior list prior to the end of the season - it wasn't just because we had to or lose him

Yeah thats right Koala. When he was kicking 8 for Bendigo, but got injured before he could play a senior game. But he was elevated permantly onto the senior list at the years end.

so he was only a rookie for one year then - 2003 - and elevated at the end of that year?

Kicked 12 goals from 11 games this season. Probably has a better average than Tarrant.
With Lloyd and Lucas taking the best defenders next year, watch out for Johns.

If Johns body holds up, then he could be anything. He has all the attributes needed to be a power forward, and once he gets a bit more confident, and the fitness to make the 2nd and 3rd efforts, he's gonna be a dynamo.

Remember, this is a kid who had hardly played in 3 years, and a kid who is still to play 20 senior games. Ideally, he would be getting match practice in the reserves or as the 3rd or 4th option alongside Lloyd, Lucas and Hird. However, due to circumstance, he's been forced to become a major focal point before he was ready.

Just out of interest, here's how he compares to a few others after 13 senior matches:

Johns: 12 goals
Lloyd: 24 goals
Lucas: 11 goals
Fevola: 20 goals
Tredrea: 23 goals

Not a huge discrepancy, and given Johns has had to learn how to play again after being injured so long, a commendable effort.
