Kyle and Jake
Kyle and Jake
Reimers and Melksham....................
Where are they?
Both contributed tonight yet seem to be playing restrained and observant.
I think there is more upside in Kyle.

Re: Kyle and Jake
Thought Jake was better tonight....not a lot but still better
Re: Kyle and Jake
Reimers gave away 5 frees and got agro after every tackle..... be lucky to hold keep his spot, i thought Jake was pretty good, effective just not damaging

Re: Kyle and Jake
One of the problems I saw tonight with Reimers was that he needed to be more "hungry", as in he should have had shots on goal etc instead of passing..
Re: Kyle and Jake
Melksham is young and probably having to get used to more opposition attention than before.
Kicked a fantastic late goal last night and did some really good things.
He'll be right.
I'm concerned about Reimers. He did some nice things too, but I wonder because he's not getting many games if he's playing with a bit more than the footy on his mind. Is he out of contract at years end?

Re: Kyle and Jake
Reimers, to me, looked confused every time he got it.
Should I be selfish and have a ping? No, I'd better not or I'll be criticised.
Should I give off a handball? No, I'm in the team for my foot skills, aren't I?
Should I kick long or short? Eyes high or low? God, I just don't know.
I think all the criticism has got inside his head too much.
Sometimes when you get criticised you then lose trust in yourself.
You start to second guess everything.
On a different note...
when i first looked, i thought this thread was about Kyle Hardingham and Jake Carlisle.
These two are fast becoming my favourite young up and coming players.
They are coming along very nicely, thank-you.

Re: Kyle and Jake
Although I like Hardingham, he was way too loose last night...he seemed to be lining up on Mayne for the centre bounces but just kept losing him in traffic. Mayne was very damaging (and kicked 4 goals), especially in the first three quarters and he always semed to be 20 metres in the clear.billyduckworth wrote:On a different note...

Upper Legs, sorry, screen is not wide enough.
Seriously, have you ever seen legs like Hardinghams - they are just enourmous, almost like a weightlifters legs

Re: Kyle and Jake
I thought Melksham was alright.
Reimers I don't think will be much of an AFL player. Wouldn't be the first player who can do really well at VFL level but struggle in the seniors.

Re: Kyle and Jake
Agree, he just overthinks everything when he's in the AFL team and tries so hard that he ends up doing things poorly like giving away sloppy free kicks, fumbling the ball or hesitating with his disposal. He's a much more assured player at VFL as i think he realises he's better than most other VFL players, but i don't think he feels as though he belongs at AFL level, and he plays accordingly.billyduckworth wrote:Reimers, to me, looked confused every time he got it.

Not sure whether he will make it given he's badly blown his few chances in the senior side this year, and we've got some decent talent coming through.

Re: Kyle and Jake
I worry about Reimers, I wasn't confident in him executing when he had the ball in his hands, but shit I think the coaches need to give him a break.
Needs consecutive games in the 1s.
fwiw I would be sending Melksham to the 2s to really nail the finer points of his game and instead carry Kyle. At least for a few weeks.
With Zaka and Davey both unavailable again next week, they may keep their spots....

Re: Kyle and Jake
I was one wanting Reimers in the side but was disappointed last night. He didn't seem to have a lot of confidence and he seems to be at his best when he can show a bit of arrogance like he has against Carlton a few times.
Melksham was much better than the previous few weeks, he seemed to find space easily and his disposal was better also.

For f**** sake, give up on the bloody Melksham bashing...it's getting quite tiresome.little_ripper wrote:I worry about Reimers, I wasn't confident in him executing when he had the ball in his hands, but shit I think the coaches need to give him a break.

Re: Kyle and Jake
I think when Reimers is on song he naturally looks and plays arrogant. We haven't seen that for a couple of years now (minus the gold coast game last year). In the 2's last week he was full of confidence and run and I expected more of the same last night. Giving away 5 free kicks probably says it all. He's just an undisciplined player and always has been, if he gets dropped it's his own fault.robrulz5 wrote:I was one wanting Reimers in the side but was disappointed last night. Your right Melksham was a lot better and the goal he kicked was huge. Having said that his overall performance was still below par of that of a good midfielder. He doesn't get the ball enough and when he does get it he doesn't dispose of it well. Hopefully he's one of those players that are a lot better after having a rest and can prove his critics wrong in the second half of the year.
Re: Kyle and Jake
Just leave Reimers in the team again this week, give him a decent go at it.
Re: Kyle and Jake
Agree. Difficult to come straight in and find form after being in the vfl for so long. Give him another few weeks unless there is someone knocking the door down to get in.Gimps wrote:Just leave Reimers in the team again this week, give him a decent go at it.
