Must be a very strong chance of captaincy now that he's been named on the field.

Darren Glass? Had the c**** had a few too many bottles of wine by the time they'd put the team together?

So Jobe's peers voted him best captain in the AFL, but cockheads like Kevin Bartlett come up with Darren Glass

FFS, get rid of that useless f****** idiot once and for all.

When will they stop selecting midfielders on the flanks? Dangerfield had a great year but he is a midfielder.

Cox in the forward pocket which is a "specialist" role according to Bartlett.

Rioli over Lewis Jetta was a big decision.

Surely Sam Jacobs was the best ruckman this year.

Theres a few things wrong with this team but Glass as captain is probably the least important. He is a dead set gun leader. Especially to take that club with that culture and have a side like they've got now.

Nothing if youre Jack Riewoldt (especially if you only kick 65 goals) besides Tom Hawkins is a more damaging FF.

Probably should have been in place of either Rioli or Cox (with Cox as the ruck and no Naitanui)

megs

1. Not much when you consider when Buddy Franklin would have absolutely shat in the Coleman Medal if he hadn't missed 6 weeks

2. Pavlich had an very good 2nd half of the season, but his first half of the season was average.

Congrats to Jobe. Thoroughly deserved.

As for the other comments, a) look at who is involved in selecting the team and b) there will always be conjecture about the players that could have or should have made the side...

For mine:
I wouldn't have NicNat in there...yeah he's exciting, yeah is talented, but NO, he is not all australian material yet.
I would have had Jetta in ahead of Rioli, but really a toss of the coin. I just feel that Jetta has been a little more consistent throughout the year and probably just edges Cyril in the middle where Cyril edges Jetta in front of goal...
I would have had the Pav in.
I would not have made Glass captain. It should have been either Grabblett or Jobe...

Who in the League's hierarchy has our football club pissed off so much that our players are constantly being snubbed or overlooked.

No problems with just Jobe being our only choice but to give Glass he Captaincy over Watson is not only stupid, its clearly a snub.

No disrespect to Glass but come on, seriously. Full backs as captains are like fast bowlers as captains. Never a good idea.

Jobe or Ablett are the only two players who should have been considered when you consider the load they have had to shoulder all season long with little or no support.

Glass has Cox, Embley, Kerr, Priddis all providing leadership around the ground. On a good day, Jobe had Fletch in support and maybe Hurls

Nic Nat? Cyril? Seriously?? Further proof that the AA team has little relevancy and is nothing more than a popularity contest.

About 400 AFL players (who see opposition captains up close and see what they do and hear what they say on the field), voted;

1. Jobe Watson
2. Joel Selwood
3. Gary Ablett

as the 3 best captains in the comp.

But smegma like Gerard Healy and Kevin Bartlett keep dragging out their fantasies like this.

True but you didn't rank Selwood as a leader after the Elim final and his peers do.

As I said I disagree with Glass but Nic Nat, Cyril etc are worse errors then Glass.

Yep, that's true. But the peers all voted before the finals series. Perhaps those on the ground that night might have a different opinion of him for next year.

But in saying that I’m happy to have my opinion dismissed by the players who would know far more than myself on the qualities of Selwood as captain.

I’d like to know what rationale Healy, Bartlett & Co used to come up with their choice….

Don't agree with Nicnat or Rioli either. It's simply a personal preference that has got them selected over more deserving performers.

Not sure what all the fuss is about with Glassy being awarded the AA Captaincy. Has been a fantastic leader for the club since taking it on.

Jobe received his own recognition for a stellar year with both AA Selection & his peers voting him AFLPA Best Captain (don’t think he would be too disappointed).

A couple of strange selections / non selections as there is every year. Always going to be the case when selection falls to a select few....
