Melksham provides some mongrel, something only Hurley and Goddard can lay real claim for.

They have more than mongrel though and Melksham needs to get more of what they have.

Good point(s) though Carlisle seems a nice boy! :D Hocking a mongrel, yep, and Hibberd has a reputation, but I don't think I've seen much "mongrel" in him yet. He's been too good to need much.

Give Gimps a run vingertje . I wanna see what happens when he tells someone like J. Brown there's a cum stain on his shorts! =D>

Perhaps we all need to re-think this after last night?

Lots of us on BT (me included) have been very critical of Melksham and wondering why he keeps getting a game.

Last night he really showed something...

In the middle part of the game, when virtually everyone else was putrid, only Melksham (and Hibberd and Baguley) were giving their all.

In the dying minutes, when the game really needed to be won, he popped up with vital goals.

His best game ever, without a doubt.

Granted...now he has to back up with a similar, mature effort. He's not silk but his aggression once tapped and converted into smart decision making could see him make great strides. Its up to him as last night, he showed he could do it.

I am more than happy to be proved wrong on any player who lifts and gives us what we hope for. Outstanding game by Jake last night. Not only didn't stuff anything up, no overt skill errors or getting caught with ball but also contributed massively on the scoreboard.

Do it again son! And again! And again!

Well, he needs to find that bag of tricks to make something of his career. Hopefully he found that last night.

Maybe he reads these forums?? I'm really happy for the bloke, at last he was able to make more than a significant contribution to winning us a match. Hopefully this performance gives him the confidence he needs to become a very good footballer and not just a plodder. Congrats Jake.

Hird was asked about him this afternoon on triple m. When quizzed whether it was his best game for the club, he was very pointed when answering that it was at least his best game for 12 months. I thought it showed how the coaching staff have also noticed he has stagnated badly. He said he had some deficiencies that have been told to him, resulting in a kick in the pants, as he called it, being dropped for Anzac Day. I really think the coaching staff are trying to will the best footy out of him. Well done jake. You have frustrated a lot of us over the last year, lets use last nights game as a launching pad!

yes, credit should be given when deserved. he played very well last night and i would be glad to be proved wrong and he turn into a great player.

but he has to be consistent. even monfries looked like a star a few games a year.
