Anyone for a quiz?

Talk about everything Essendon. Past, Present and Future if it's about the Bombers this is the place to be.

Lol ok i'll give you that one. The only reason why i did is because i havn't been around since '51

Who was the first interstate club to win a VFL/AFL Premiership, and who did they beat? (Note, think outside the square on this one.)

South Melbourne beat Carlton in 1909. Seeing as they are know Sydney and have the premiership next to there name I would guess them.

I think Gatsid might have got it, and I dont agree that an "interstate" team one it. However the other 2 options would be Fitzroy who beat Essendon in 1898 or West Coast beating Geelong in '92

Well fitzroy is wrong because if you look at the Brisbane Lions stats, they have only won three premierships.

Correct.

Gatsid might have it on a technicality, but seeing that South Melbourne were, well, South Melbourne at that time they wouldn't count as a interstate club at that time by my reasoning (and the trivia guy at the local who i got this question from)

The reserves competition was renamed the VSFL in 1996 (the same year that the VFA was renamed VFL) so technically up to 1996 (but in reality up to 2000 when the VSFL merged with the VFL) the reserves competition was under the AFL banner.

Therefore Brisbane were the first interstate club to win a VFL/AFL Premiership, albeit a reserves flag.

Aschroft?
I was going to say Hart but Bommerdonnie beat me to it.

And I hope your son is going well. My cousin has a new born and it is hard work. Best of luck with him to you and your partner.

In the 1984 Night Premiership victory by Essendon, which Sydney Swans player was concussed by Terry Daniher in the opening minutes?

A clue: The player wore No.50 and was better known in another sport.
