The Game Plan

Post by Gimps »

If we lose this week, just about kiss the finals goodbye.

So throw the shit game plan out the window, the game plan that is devoiding the players of confidence and making then hesistate. Tell them to ****** run their guts out and play on instinct.

Bomb it long to snake?

I thought that was our game plan.

Problem being - Snake is either missing - no one's at his feet or if he captures it, there's a 60% to 70% chance he'll miss.

And......Snake is one of our strengths ATM

There was a passage of play in the last quarter (can't quite remember who it involved in our forward line), where a ball was kicked into our forward 50 in a one on one contest (it might have been Ambrose). I watched as the other forwards spread sideways and away from the contest. Absolutely no-one thought that the ball might fall back behind that contest (not like they hadn't noticed Ambrose barely taking mark, let alone a contested one all night).

FFS, anyone with any instincts would move towards that contest in anticipation of a spilt ball. And someone did - a Richmond defender...

I'm kinda glad I was playing last night and didn't have to watch such a terrible performance.

What game plan Gimps?

- Been worried about our Coaching Panel for a while.....now it is a matter of "Houston we have a problem/s"

- Zerrett and Trav apart no pace around the ball. Getting killed week after week at fall of ball. Perhaps give some fast guys like Edwards and Kenny (if fit) etc a go....ya know try something else.

- May have to trade away someone of note to get some GCS or GWS pace into the team at years end.

- Thank Christ for the back 6.....amongst the best in the AFL. Imagine if they had a top Mid Field ahead of them to protect them more and give off too on the rebound?

- TBell.....don't say I didn't tell you so. Not AFL standard.

Our spine is young and quality it's the aging midfield that we are basically stuck with now

we took our chances on Goddard/Cooney/Chapman and it's looked to have backfired pretty badly and will hurt us big time moving forward. chapman is gone this year you would suspect and we'll need Cooney/Goddard/Watson to all have a ripper 2nd half of the year leading into a great 2016 for us to be anywhere in the short term

Geelong, St Kilda and the Doggies are laughing at us now

We took our chances on Goddard and it's paid off big time. Won our B&F don't forget

Chapman has been serviceable and Cooney apart from yesterday has got a pass mark

Correct, they won't be much value to us in 2 years

If we fall out of finals calculations this year then I would suggest Brown, Kav, O'brien, Steinberg, plus younger draftees ate given extended game time.

as players yes they have been good but they were brought in to take us to top 4 nothing less and we havn't even got close to threatening to do that in reality, not their fault at all, but the club should have known this whole saga was always going to ruin us and create barriers so should have gone with a mini rebuild 3 years ago instead of topping up. Hindsight is easy and even easier for the supporter given the limited knowledge we have about the players and where their heads are at but it's clear now we have a list that's in trouble of going nowhere for a long time. Even players like Zaka and Carlisle young as they are must be thinking shit we could go without any success here.

who knows we might come out and play like superstars and flog Geelong but they will only underline the fact even further that this group is all over the shop

Was watching Dustin Martin's game yesterday. Superb.

Exactly the type of player we lack.

With Jobe out of sorts, Goddard not string the world on fire, it leaves Hep to do most of the heavy lifting.

Plus TBC is utterly lost out there ATM

As such, we are getting very little quality ball out of our mids.

Free Agency will only land a player in their late 20 ' s

So to build a quality mid field we'll need to trade for elite players under 25.

I just don't think we have the currency

Possible trades such as Dempsey, Bellchambers, J Merrett, Ambrose, will get us diddly sqwat.

Zaka however may be the one. Likely first round pick which can be on traded with a player for a quality mid.
