So juff, (or any-one) for us ignorant people what`s the Nick Hind story?...position he plays, physical attributes?
He’s a mid sized (181 cm) running defender/midfielder who likes to break the lines, which he did to great effect in the dying minutes of the bombers close win over Richmond in the VFL finals. His disposal is not great, but that can be worked on.
Thanks for the info guys, he sounds like he could be a handy pick-up.
My guess is that he is depth insurance for Saad or McKenna when either of them is unavailable.
True. Will be a handy back up. Runs like a gazelle. Adds depth to the senior list which is what we want.
The truth is that in today’s game, pace with a modicum of football skills is arguably more important than someone with stellar disposal skills but who can’t get out of first gear. Spread and speed of spread is what makes an team very threatening.

I see why you'd say that, but I think someone like Greg Williams would still be highly sought after in today's game. As was Jobe Watson, as is Tom Mitchell and Josh Kennedy (Swans) and probably others I can't be bothered thinking of. They give their team the illusion of speed because they get the ball out quickly to players in a better position.

Except the players you mention are all inside mids. Hind is most definitely not that

Fair enough. I was responding in a more general sense

In a general sense there will always be a space for an elite albeit slow mid fielder. I just don’t think teams will risk carrying more than 1. It was clear that Jobe was no longer able to keep up in his last season, even with his elite ball getting and excellent disposal skills as the pace of the game has simply gone to another level. I think Josh Kennedy will suffer a similar fate. Mitchell benefits from Hawthorns reliance on uncontested footy. He is not a typical in and under type mid by any means.
Just out of interest, is there any way we could trade our three picks for a single pick in the early second round to someone needing points for academy players? Can someone clarify if this is possible? (may not be feasible of course)

In theory yes. But I would take a 1st round pick for our 3....why give up a round 2 pick +2 for a another round 2 pick????

Someone told me Mason Fletcher is injured. I don't know if that is true.
Yep, stress fractures of the back. Not a good sign.
Mason Fletcher will not nominate for the draft this year. Intends to play as an over age at Calder Cannons in 2019 with intention for drafting in 2019.
The former Fremantle ruckman is back on the AFL radar after a consistent season playing at Subiaco in the WAFL. The 28-year-old was delisted by the Dockers at the end of the 2017 season after a knee complaint impacted his chances. Starred with 50 hit-outs and 17 disposals in the WAFL Grand Final and may get an opportunity with Essendon and West Coast on the lookout for an experienced big man.
Matthew Parker
Height: 187cm
Weight: 79kg
DOB: 25/1/96
Club: South Fremantle
The 22-year-old is an exciting medium-sized forward with a thrilling highlights package. Parker has AFL qualities with his speed and ability to conjure a goal, booting 27 majors from 20 League games in 2018. Parker counts Pickett and Geelong’s Tim Kelly, a former teammate at South Fremantle, as strong influences in turning his career around after he was playing amateur football less than two years ago. The Swans and Essendon are two clubs who are understood to have shown interest.
NEAFL
Regarded by former Melbourne coach Paul Roos as a player who deserves a chance to be on an AFL list, Thurlow is a strong and physical ruckman out of Southport. After spending time on Essendon’s list a few years back, the 200cm big man has been one of the NEAFL’s most dominant ruckman.

At Pick 34...we should take the next Josh Kelly
At Pick 66....we should take the next Max Gawn, although I would accept the next Brodie Grundy
At Pick 84...I guess I would accept the next Marcus Bontempelli.
Not to put any pressure, or anything on you Disco.
Josh Kelly - Over-rated
Maxx Gawn - showpony, better suited to media and advertising
Marcus Bontempelli ... Don't we get him for free at the end of 2019 anyway? [/sarc off]
Late picks - unless there is a real slider, I think will go all out on mature agers - Hind, a ruck and I'd be very happy for either Mitch Grigg from Norwood or Jye Bolton from Claremont.
