He’s a mid sized (181 cm) running defender/midfielder who likes to break the lines, which he did to great effect in the dying minutes of the bombers close win over Richmond in the VFL finals. His disposal is not great, but that can be worked on.

My guess is that he is depth insurance for Saad or McKenna when either of them is unavailable.

As was Jobe Watson, as is Tom Mitchell and Josh Kennedy (Swans) and probably others I can't be bothered thinking of. They give their team the illusion of speed because they get the ball out quickly to players in a better position.

In a general sense there will always be a space for an elite albeit slow mid fielder. I just don’t think teams will risk carrying more than 1. It was clear that Jobe was no longer able to keep up in his last season, even with his elite ball getting and excellent disposal skills as the pace of the game has simply gone to another level. I think Josh Kennedy will suffer a similar fate. Mitchell benefits from Hawthorns reliance on uncontested footy. He is not a typical in and under type mid by any means.
Just out of interest, is there any way we could trade our three picks for a single pick in the early second round to someone needing points for academy players? Can someone clarify if this is possible? (may not be feasible of course)

In theory yes. But I would take a 1st round pick for our 3....why give up a round 2 pick +2 for a another round 2 pick????

Mason Fletcher will not nominate for the draft this year. Intends to play as an over age at Calder Cannons in 2019 with intention for drafting in 2019.
