Best 22 in 2020

Talk about everything Essendon. Past, Present and Future if it's about the Bombers this is the place to be.

Excellent question sti

My take...

B: P. Ambrose, M. Hurley, M. Redman
HB: A. Saad, C. Hooker, C. McKenna
C: A. McGrath, Z. Merrett, D. Shiel
HF: D. Smith, S. McKernan, J. Stringer
F: O. Fantasia, J. Daniher, A. McDonald-Tipungwuti

Foll: S. Draper, D. Heppell, D. Parish

INT: M. Gleeson, A. Francis, M. Guelfi, K. Langford

EMERG: T. Cutler, T. Bellchambers, M. Brown
Face value appears decent.
But I think it's more complicated - as in....best 22 depends who we're playing against.
That said...
I'd have Brown rather than McKernan. I feel he offers more in the way of workrate and connection between mids and forwards.
Not sure Draper is best 22 yet. He's still untried at AFL level.
And I really reckon Snelling should be in there. Maybe as Interchange rather than Gleeson. Thinking we are well covered enough defensively without Gleeson.
I think Snelling might be injured???????

Thought it time to revisit our starting 22 based on the current injury status and preseason training form.

D50
Francis. Ambrose. Gleeson
Redman. Hurley. Saad

Midfield
Phillips. Shiel. Merrett
Heppell. Townsend. McGrath

F50
Smith. Laverde. McKenna
Walla. Stringer. Fantasia

Interchange
Langford, Ham, Clarke, Zerk-Thatcher

Injured
Daniher, Bellchmabers, Gown, Stewart, Hooker, Zaharakis (Maybe right to go), Guelfi.

I guess we can now rule a line through Irish.

Some talk of him coming back but you’d think the club would have said so if it was definite.

Sounds like a family problem, maybe an illness, who knows. I do hope everything is ok for the lad. We will sure miss him.

I am looking forward to us getting our second ever #1 pick.

Does that mean our compensation pick for JD would be #2?

Assuming the AFL takes into account Joe’s age and salary demand then yes, it would be a first round selection immediately following the pick received from final ladder position.

And boy don’t we need em!

Add Ambrose to that list.

So at this stage question marks on Hurley, Hooker, Heppell, Walla, Stewart, Daniher, Gown, Bellchambers, McKenna, Draper and Ambrose

That’s four All Australians, our number 1 ruckman and his apprentice, our best small forward, 2 potential key forwards, our best lock down defender and our best rebounding half back and Top Four finisher in last years’s B&F.

Yep, we’ll be fine.

Our players seem to get upset that there's any opposition let alone a good one.

Just for the hell of it I thought I would mix it up a bit and be creative.

Hooker Hurley Redmond
Saad McGrath McKenna
Townsend Merrett Guefli
Parish Smith Stringer
Walla JoeDan/McBride Fantasia
Belly/Phillips Cutler Shiel

Bench Langford, Snelling, Mutch, Begley.

Allowance for last minute cancellations. Why McBride he is a beautiful kick of the footy.

Here we go again

Any likely big name changes to the Starting 22 for when games are back underway

Will the likes of Heppell, Hooker and Daniher be a chance??

With the amount of games the AFL intend the clubs to play is it every ten days the teams will play three games, is that what it is?
If this is so, what about injuries? How does the AFL plan to do with lots of injuries - how many spare players are we allowed to have?
