Rd 19 Essendon v Dogs

Talk about everything Essendon. Past, Present and Future if it's about the Bombers this is the place to be.

After the first ten minutes, we never looked like it. Really hope we do NOT make the finals as clearly we are not up to it.

All I can say is the Essendon Football Club is on par with Metro.

I can get to f****** Pakenham quicker than I can get back to Essendon. The system is an absolute useless c***. Much like our club.

Far too many passengers, particularly in the forward half
Once again, a fabulous 2 minutes from Stringer, this time the first 2 minutes then bugger all for the rest of the game
Where's the forward 50 crumber?
The back 6 work their arses off, but can't do it all
And I though the job of the mids was to move the ball quickly, not to see if they could grow grass on it.

Disappointing.

Give Tsakis a run

Our season walked off the ground in the last quarter. Ridley done, so is our season.

Just play Tsatas for the rest of the year.

Even play Munkara, Davey and Wanganeen.

Drop whoever. IDGAF.

Oh and Parish showed why he is not worth $800K tonight.

Bont ran past him a few times to score and set up goals
Darcy stood still.
Bont is slow but worked his butt off.
Darcy didn't

Darcy is not a match winner. He stays for the current salary or he buggers off to Geelong
Put the money into keeping Redman instead.

Shiel can also take a paycut to stay with us

Yep.
Turnover half the list until we can find a full team that play at a decent baseline level week in, week out. Far too many blokes out there that promise good things one week and disappear the next.
Also, for fans, shelve any expectations of success.

Let Parish go. His mere presence and innate laziness has unbalanced the side.

Hobbs, Caldwell and Perkins have been shadows of themselves since Parish came in.

He cost us the Port game and hid his insipidity has spread like a disease through the group

We missed my man Menzie.

Drop Parish, Snelling, Bryan, Stringer and Kelly.

Bring in Davey, Menzie, Tsatas, Voss and Baldwin.

Also what about Munkara and Walla.

I feel we are losing these games now on the selection table. He took ages to drop Weideman.

Stringer and Wright have been useless as well.

43000 Essendon supporters rocked up tonight hoping last week was an aberration.

Alas no. It’s been terrible since the Adelaide game second half. That was the point things went pear shaped, We went from a fast ball moving side that applied maximum pressure to a slow backwards moving side with not a notion about what to do next.

Get off the Parish hate.
Lazy?? He got 1/3 of our total clearances - more than Caldwell, Merrett, Hobbs, Perkins and Stringer combined. And made 7 tackles- 2nd most for the team.
And before dumping Bryan you might want to look at what he achieves a bit more closely, especially by looking at how much time he spends on the ground. Minute for minute he does as much as Phillips or Draper. No chance Phillips is around when/if we're an actually good team. Bryan needs to play for the rest of the season.

I just think we functioned better before Parish came back. He racks up possessions but I don’t think he does a lot with them.

What happened to the run and gun we had going earlier in the season? They are back to overthinking everything. The stupid switching.

Put some guys in that have some flair and can break the lines.

I’m not too concerned losing to the doggies. They usually play well against us. Our style tonight won’t hold up against many teams. And certainly won’t get within 70 pts during finals.

I ran a ladder predictor based on the higher ladder positioned team winning and results were:
Win 3 - finish 7th
Win 2 - finish 9th
Win 0 - finish 15th

What’s the best outcome here? Land pick 4 in the draft and reset with a nicely compromised 2024 draw?

Win 3 or so and possibly make finals only to belted or finish 9th? Can we regain our mojo and surprise the afl world?

Win 2 and finish 9th with a harder 2024 draw?

I didn’t think it was all that bad. Just need a bit of luck going our way and things would be a lot different.

Lost count the amount of times the ball fell into their lap off a pack. Either over the back or at the front. Bang, straight into their hands. The bounce if he ball seemed to also favour them every single time. We had lots of measures in our favour, but lost the latchy ones.

I found the holding the ball interpretations / adjudications very one sided. We got nailed for HTB while Bulldogs got away with the same examples. So just those moments alone can cost you big.

And the curse of losing key players at crucial times continues. Ridley last night just destroyed us.

Gee,that’s sure a familiar pattern to my Dees against the Doggies last week.We get tackled,Bang!Holding the Ball in an instant. We tackle them, held to ‘em!FMD!

That would Menzie then you have Davey, Walla and Munkara just stuck in the seconds.

I’d give Tsatas, Davey and Voss a run.

After these two horrible losses someone has to be held accountable.
