Once again, a good quality game ruined by umpires. This is the way the season will go for all clubs. Quality play, hard contests, shitty umpiring.

As usual we are getting raped by the umpires!
McPhee used his body to get his player out of the way, free kick against him. Umpire say Slats was choping the arms, he was no where near his arms! Absolutely f****** shithouse

That Burton decision was a joke, as were the two before it.

We are certainly playing the better football, and hopefully can continue that. Remembering that we did finish very strongly in all the practice matches this pre season.

Adelaide's shit kicking is keeping us in it. Looking for another Lloyd/Lucas purple patch and a nice buffer in the 3rd.

HALF TIME.

ESSENDON: 8.3 51
Lucas 4, Lloyd 2, M Johnson, Welsh

ADELAIDE: 5.9 39
Burton 2, Van Berlo, Thompson, Bock

Playing very well. Lucas and Lloyd on fire up there. Davey got reported...

Alwyn Davey has nothing to worry about. That report will be dismissed. By the way, he's been good creating pressure in our forward half with two holding the balls, one of which directly created a goal.

We battled in the latter part of the second quarter because we changed from being attacking to defensive. Adelaide will win convincingly if we play defensive footy - we need to keep attacking.

Ahhh bloody umps! Thats terrible with that decision on Slatters.

Agree with all those Dys, Winderlich also showing some brilliance.

What i like about what we're doing today, and what we havnt done as much in the past is playing on. It see Lovett, Gus, Davey, they all run off the line and its absoulute fantastic.

Hope they can keep it up. We seem threatening when we go into our forward 50.

Im a bit worried about how our second half will shape up... while we play ok for first 5-10 mins we really are dying off and allowing the crows to run in numbers, just thankfull that Hudson cant kick over a jam tin

Loved the Lovett tackle, followed up by a Davey tackle resulting in a free kick into a goal.

Davey book, but I don't think he can get rubbed out for that. He was going in for the tackle and the Adelaide bloke shat himself and slipped. Alwyn adjusted as well as he could have. What was he meant to do? Just stop and say 'sorry you slipped, just get rid of the ball without me the pressure'

Same as the 1st. Started well, then Crows came back(with some help from the umps). Davey is magic! Lucas, Lloyd forward line is back to it's deadly best. Annoyingly, it seems for every few passages of great play, there's the odd stuff up. But it is Rnd 1. Loved it when Mal spoiled 2 Crows!

I'm happy with Jetta's game also so far. Hes tried hard and you can see it, his work rate is fantastic. He loves to run and tackle, i reckon he can be a Mark Johnson type player, if not better.

The Lloyd/Lucas combination seems to be working well. Also helpful having Monfries, and Davey at their feet waiting for the crumbs.

BS report. Hopefully it won't affect him for the rest of the game.

Lloydy has been pretty good i reckon.

Good signs when he kicked that goal from 50-55m. It just got there, but with his hammy problems, its an assuring image for the season ahead.

Lucas has dominated. Absoulutely brilliant. Our forward line is working a treat.
